I'm just finishing off a questionnaire for my O.U. project on childcare costs and household decision making. I'm going to try to put it on one of the national websites but I was wondering if there is anyone here who would very kindly be the first ones to fill it in and give me any feedback on whether anything needs changing before I put it 'out there'.
All information gathered will be handled according to the Data Protection Act and will be destroyed once my course is finished.

I did your questionnaire and found it very straightforward, but question 8 needs an 'zero' option. I had to put the lowest amount to get my survey submitted, when I dont actually pay out anything for childcare.

I did it too. Suggest including options for breakfast and after school clubs too

I've just done it and suggest you need a "more than" column for the number of hours childcare. Also might be worth having additional income brackets - as for example those that have full time nannies are likely to have much greater income than your top bracket due to the sheer cost of a nanny (although likely t be the minority.)

Thanks for the input 2009Kat, I was thinking that the 'other' box might do the trick for those that have more than 45 hours childcare since if they had several children it could add up to over a hundred hours and I didn't think there was enough space on the questionnaire for every category up to that. I get your point about the income bracket and will put in a couple of extra ones.

Hi, I've just completed your survey. Just wanted to point out that in your classifications there's no option for "two parents, one in part-time employment and one not in paid employment". We are in a situation at present where I am in part-time employment and my partner is not in paid employment - although he is self-employed.
