Architect Recommendations?

Postby ClaphamMomma » Wed Apr 07, 2021 8:23 pm

Hello!

We want to do a kitchen side return, and basement conversion and loft conversion at the same time. Can anyone recommend a good local architect for planning this all? In Battersea / Clapham?

Also, if anyone can recommend builders too and any tips if you’ve done this all before, we’d be really grateful too! :)

Hi I can recommend a fresh and experienced company, H+E Studio Ltd Architecture and Structural Enginnering that is design lead and with masses of experience in designing fantastic spaces, attention to detail and a detailed knowledge of materials. They have experience in ground floor extensions, roof and basements and high end commercial. Fully RIBA qualified to take a project through all of the stages to completion. You can contact Joseph on or 077 5331 6710

Ben and the team at Aura Homes in Clapham old town are great. We used them for a project last year. Great service, very reasonably priced and they know what they’re doing with the specifications and the specification of works which means, based on our experience, the project will come in on budget with no surprises from things being overlooked.

Good morning!

How exciting! We had a loft conversation done two years ago creating two beautiful bedrooms, a terrace and two bathrooms. It’s incredible how much space is often up there!! We used a local architect and found him really helpful, so much so we’ve recommended to many friends and will be using him on our next project. He has lots of experience in the area, some great ideas and was super easy to work with.

Give him a call - Michael tel. 07952 940184

We have just done similar work. I am afraid that this is more of a warning to steer clear, than a recommendation. After a lot of research and after numerous recommendations on this site, we employed Porters Developments. Initially they were fabulous but is seems that the pandemic has had an effect on the company and they disappeared from site in December, leaving me with a half completed job. The owner has now, I believe, moved back to Poland. I think that he is trying to sell the business as a going concern. We have been left in an awful situation, be wary.

I can recommend Paul at Cambria Projects. He's extremely experienced, local to SW London (Wimbledon based), and is also able to project manage the entire build with his team of builders (who are a different company but have worked together for 15 years) if that's what you wish.

I truly couldn't recommend him more, he did a great job on our place in Balham where we did a back and side extension. He did a wonderful job of retaining the original Victorian features while also building us a lovely modern open plan kitchen/living room. I know he's done lots of bigger projects too.

His number is 020 8605 1930 / 07903 640 127

Thank you SO much all! We have made a list now and will start calling round today! Thanks again!

So sorry to hear about your problems too with porters - hope you have managed to get new builders to sort the mess out x
