Bringing forward second vaccine? Post Reply

I was wondering if anyone tried to bring forward their second vaccine and how you went about it?

I’ve got mine booked for August but ideally would like it before July to visit elderly relatives. I have tried using the NHS booking portal but it only shows alternatives for the next 5 days at the same booking centre as the first vaccine. Otherwise it asks you to cancel your existing booking, before you can check other locations and other times, which seems a bit risky as I wouldn’t want to loose the original booking without an alternative.

I heard some people just going to test centres at the end of the day, has anyone done this?

I’m not in any special groups (eg over 50 or health worker)

You could go to one of the super vaccination events at the football stadiums today- I believe they are giving our second vaccines as long as there has been more than a month between jabs. I think there is one in Stamford bridge in Fulham today.

I did by going to the pharmacy where I had the first one. They told me I could come at the end of day and wait to see if they had any left over (due to people missing their appointment). And it worked!

I just cancelled mine and there was tons available for the weeks beforehand. I brought it up by 3 weeks as a result. Cancelling and rebooking is the only way to do it through the system (vs a walk-in)

Hi there yes I’ve just done it and there’s loads of availability in and around SW11! I have heard that there needs to be at least 8 weeks between jabs though.

Wow thank you so much, it seems that there are a few options! Good to hear also that even on the NHS website there is availability in SW11.

Seem this police officer and a few other " mad people" don't agree with government views and are taking serious action and expense to prevent children from being vaccinated.The government is being sued by an ex-policeman listen to his facts in a statement to police about the dangers of the vaccine including children. There are lots of walk in clinics being held again this coming weekend. Google SW or SE London Covid vaccination, and you should get the links. Obviously you need to ensure that the walk in centre is administering the correct vaccine (same as your first dose). I think that Queen Mary's in Roehampton usually offers both the AZ and Pfizer vaccines at the same clinic.
In terms of the dosage gap, there is good clinical evidence that a minimum of an 8 week gap gives a much higher level of immunity so the NHS are not encouraging people to reduce the gap for the second dose below 8 weeks.  If there is a very good reason however, the healthcare professional in charge of the clinic on the day can agree this if necessary. The absolute minimum gap for Pfizer is 3 weeks and 4 weeks for Astra Zeneca.
