Looking for meaning in your life?

Postby JPK » Wed Sep 21, 2011 3:33 pm

Hello and welcome to my post.

If you’re wondering whether counselling is something that can help you, I propose that you reflect on this: Is how you are feeling now different from how you think you should be feeling at this point in your life..? If so, then therapy could well be of use to you. I’ve worked with people on the broad continuum from severe trauma to life development and have found that some regular time for exploration, expression and support has proven to be beneficial for all.

SPECIALIST AREAS

I offer counselling to individuals as well as couples. I have worked extensively with issues such as: life changes, grief/bereavement, bullying/discrimination, insomnia, stress, depression, abuse, trauma, fears/phobias, relationships, pain/chronic illness, family, gender/sexuality, panic/anxiety, and refocusing/personal development amongst a plethora of others.

I divide my time between Adult Education, independent (private) practice and writing. I have also had seven years of experience working for the NHS.

MY TRAINING
I trained in the person-centred approach, pioneered by Carl Rogers and now have eight years of experience working as a therapist. Since finishing the taught part of my training in 2005, I have taken courses in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy/Stress Reduction (MBCT/MBSR), and have explored introductory trainings in Dramatherapy and Equine-assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). I also completed a couples training and am constantly seeking to develop my work by exploring new areas of interest.

WHERE I AM
I work from a central location with easy access to 2 tube lines (Bakerloo and Northern), overground rail and numerous bus services with proximity to the City and Central London. I am able to offer appointments from 8am-10pm, 7 days a week. An initial 30-minute consultation is free.

If there’s anything you’re not sure about or would like to check out with me, please feel free to send me an enquiry. I will respond to ALL emails.

I look forward to hearing from you,

James-Paul Kelly

Hi all - I'm posting this as a clarification. I happened to respond empathically to a posting (which I do on occasion here) where someone seemed to have scant support and little freedom of expression. I also offered a pathway to support/counselling which did not necessarily include myself. This was authentically given as an invitation and could either be be accepted, or declined.

I do not mean to direct or cajole and am sorry that you have misunderstood that, Peppapig. I apologise if you have felt intruded upon...
