Nursery - Between the commons

Postby seniordvg » Sat Nov 13, 2021 8:09 pm

We are due to move just off the northcote road with our 7 month old, we are relocating from elsewhere in London.

We would like to get her a place for a nursery in the area when she is 2. Can anyone reccomend a good nursery?
And, is applying at this stage too late for a decent one?

All four of our kids went to the amazing Nightingale Montessori on Ramsden Rd. The lovely teachers and staff who taught my 14 year old are still teaching there now. It’s such a special place, really gentle and friendly with the use of the large outdoor garden space at St Luke’s Church. As you can imagine, they are generally over subscribed however this year they’ve also opened a new Montessori nursery at St Michaels church and I believe they have spaces. Good luck!

Our 2 year old is at the Butterfly Preschool on Webbs Road. It is utterly delightful, super small, Montessori concept, separate PE, music and yoga teachers. To be fair we didn't look anywhere else so can't compare but it's perfect for us.

I can highly recommend Noah's Ark Nursery in Cobham Close, just off Northcote Road.  It's wonderful....and no it's definitely not too late.

We've had a wonderful experience with Broomwood Montessori https://www.broomwoodmontessori.com

The most wonderful, nurturing staff, great facilities including an enormous hall so the children get playtime in all weathers, and a very cute nature garden.
It is small, so perfect for quieter children who might get overwhelmed in big groups. Our son absolutely thrived...

They went above and beyond during covid and lockdowns, and are well-regarded by local schools. Highly recommend it

I would highly recommend Little Learners. Both my 2 went there, it was a gentle introduction to a nursery environment. There is a real nurturing atmosphere there. My boys thrived, we loved it! They take children from 15 Months.

Alphabet nursery is exceptional. The team is super experienced and have worked together for a very long time. They are genuinely caring, and you will see your child make tremendous progress. My daughter skips in the door each morning. They will be in the brand new library on Northcote Road from next year, so the facilities will be second to none. Can't recommend them highly enough.

I’d second Broomwood Montessori. It’s family run by a wonderful mum and daughter team. It has lovely facilities and it’s small so easy to get to know everyone. Really friendly group of parents too, which is great if you are new to the area.

I 100% second nightingale Montessori - all my kids went there and loved it. It was nurturing, happy and with a balanced emphasis on learning academics vs just being little and exploring the world. The garden is second to none in this area and the teachers are wonderful. Added bonus that most of the little ones go on to similar schools so your child will find some friendly faces on day 1 in whatever reception they end up at!
Every time we drive past it, my children still comment how happy they were there….
