I think that I would like to get some botox for my frown lines. The skin on my face in general isn't very lined but I do seem to have a deep furrow between my eyes. I am unsure about whether botox is the right thing / will work to get and if anyone has had botox would you say it worked for you, particularly if you had it for deep frown lines.

If anyone could recommend someone that they have used successfully I would be very grateful. My dentist does it but I would really prefer a recommendation. Happy to travel into town if I have to but local would be more ideal.

I’ve tried a few places locally (including dentists) and this is by far the best - very natural looking and very knowledgeable staff.

Hiya ,

I used to have major concerns with my frown lines
Before just having Botox i used to wear Frownies at night time , Little bits of sticky paper which keep your forehead risen, helps a little .

I also used to use a gua sha stone on my frown

Both helped a little ,

In the end i had Botox for my frown line . i can still move my forehead muscles and you can still see my frown line . although no way near as it was.

I was a bit scared of botox spreading and causing illness, and i am still a little x

But it has really helped me become more confident. and relaxed within myself .

It will definitely work, no question. I had it done recently, at Therapie near Clapham Junction, on the recommendation of a friend who'd had it done at Therapie in Marylebone. I wasn't very scared about it (know plenty of people who have done it) but it was my first. Also the furrows between the eyebrows - which by the way are called 'the elevenses'! It was fine. The needle part wasn't fun, but brief. At first it looked very smooth/frozen/maybe a little unnatural but then it softened up. It was about £180 I want to say?  TBH I don't think anyone could tell at all that I'd had it done. So not sure I'd do it again. 

Though I believe they say it's worth starting young because it prevents wrinkles from getting worse!

I think Botox will definitely work for you, I have been having it for a while and I’m super happy with the way it looks, not too obvious but youthful.
I’ve been going to ProDenta on st Johns Hill and have seen Shubhra and Nick there, both are great and have given me the look I wanted.

I go to Michael Praegar in Beauchamp Place Knightsbridge . I’ve never been able to get a decent cut and colour South of the River so I wouldn’t attempt Botox here either . It is extremely natural but expensive .

I’ve not had it done although plenty of my friends have and to be honest I think it’s a waste of time. Yes they all have smooth foreheads but the rest of their faces have aged and there’s a mismatch that looks odd. I think people have it and concentrate on that one problem area and it looks better but when we look at our friends we look at the whole face, not just the part between their eyes. You can’t Botox away eye bags and jowls and you don’t want to end up looking like Nicole Kidman (maybe you do!!)

Botox convert over here! You certainly don't need to go for the Nicole Kidman "extremely smooth", wind-tunnel appearance which frankly looks horrid.

I've seen Dr Mica Engel at Cosmetica in Balham and Dr Eldimarys Curry at SW11 Medical clinic. Both are dermatologists who prefer the subtle, natural looking-approach - none of this age-defying, "overdone" non-sense. In fact, they'll advise you against it and turn down work (if that's the look you're after).

I would only every go to a dermatologist or dentist to do Botox. It is expensive though especially if you go to a skilled consultant.

I've loved having Botox and it's always looked natural. It's made me feel a bit more fresh and less tired. Go for it.

I had a very good experience with Dr Rachel (a GP) @ The Curated Clinic in Earlsfield. I got a lot of time and some great insight in to skincare which I hadn’t received anywhere else. It’s a home clinic which might not be for everyone… but the room itself is really lovely, and it felt like a very personal/bespoke service.

Just got my first botox on the frown lines after having similar doubts like you. I am super happy I did - went for a very natural look and would totally do it again.

What I can say is - try it out, tell them not to overdo it - you can always top it up or just never repeat it again when it wears off.

I did it out of town and coupled it with some mesotherapy (two session of mesotheraphy with 3 months gap) - absolutely love my skin now!

If you decide to have Botox treatment, it is best to go to a good professional. Going to a cosmetologist with no experience or medical training, or using a botulinum toxin type that has not been cleared and approved for medical use, can lead to an emergency situation. Make sure you find a qualified cosmetic surgeon who will inject you with the real drug. For example, I had a Botox injection from a good facial surgeon realself.com. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or going to get pregnant shortly, Botox is not for you. The drug has not been tested in such cases.

I regularly go to re treat medi spa in Putney. Dr Shadi is brilliant and very gentle and doesn’t give you the frozen look! All quite natural xx

Another vote for Dr Eldimarys Curry at SW11 Medical on Lavender Hill. She is extremely knowledgeable and experienced and can advise on the best treatment for you. It's also relatively reasonably priced. I am now 49... I had her do my Botox regularly, I had filler in my lips, cheeks and nasolabial folds, and also had "threads" (non surgical lift), and recently I had a filler on my nose - that's a non surgical nose job, and I couldn't believe how well that worked - I went from having an (increasingly) crooked nose to a nearly straight one! I don't look "done" but people can't believe my age For frown lines, it usually is Botox, but sometimes if your lines are deep, a bit of filler can go a long way.

What I like about Dr Eldimarys is that she only does a little initially, then saves your Botox (or filler) and you come for a check-up 2 weeks later so she can top up based on how it worked for your face and / or how you feel about it.

I would really recommend Dr Fiona McCarthy (found on old posts here and have used her ever since!) She's fab and very natural.
