Looking for feedback on Burntwood School

Postby pompom » Fri Mar 18, 2022 2:19 pm

Hi I hadn't really thought of this as being an option for my daughter but she did Lets Play Netball there a while back and I was amazed at the facilities. Wondering if any current or recent parents could share any insight or experiences so that I can get a better feel for it. Many thanks.

Following this thread.

I am also impressed by the facilities, buildings and classrooms at Burntwood. I did a tour of the school last year and was also very impressed by the teachers and students I spoke to. I would also love to hear from current and recent parents.

My daughter was at Burntwood until a couple of years ago. I found the teachers to be capable and committed. There’s plenty of extra-curricular activities, I remember netball club, youth leadership, ski trip, theatre trips, wimbledon ball girls, and there are lots more. Anything to be paid for by parents is reasonably priced. Pastoral care seems good. We got some excellent support with a health problem. Uniform is not expensive and lasts. Downsides? Mainly subjective, and could be same at any school? There was no parent community, no PTA or fundraising. This could have changed. My daughter had some lovely friends and some horrible situations with other girls that made me wonder if co-ed might have been better. The school 100% teaches inclusivity but my daughter would say that being the same race or religion is a factor in friendship groups. Hope this helps but please bear in mind this is just the opinion of one person! When I was choosing schools I tended to zone out from what other parents said as sometimes it wasn’t helpful!

hi,

Coming back on this older thread. Would any Nappy Valley parents have more recent feedback on Burntwood? We too have been impressed by the school buildings, facilities and range of subjects on offer. If our daughter were to attend Burntwood it is unlikely that any of her primary school friends would go there along with her. I'm interested to know how easy it might be for her to make friends. She is confident and is not religious. She does well in school and enjoys learning, but likes a variety of subjects.

Thanks!

From what you have written your daughter and my daughter sound similar. Assuming our girls will both go to Burntwood in September 2023 I'd be very happy for us to introduce them before school starts so they can get to know each other.

Hi there,

My daughter is also hopefully starting at Burntwood in Sept 23 and as we are moving from another borough won’t know anyone so would be lovely to perhaps organise a meet up beforehand?

Hi - I wondered if the pp’s daughters ended up at Burntwood this year and if so how they are finding it? I visited today and thought it seemed great!
