We need several bus routes from Wandsworth into Fulham, West Lomdon and North West London.
Whoever said the transport links are good is wrong. They are crap from our part of town to that and its not even that far. Hence more car use than necessary.
I've cycled to Fulham numerous times and it's ok/ disabled as there are cycle paths along the busy roads and at the roundabout. Get real, this is not doable for many people.
Buses are much easier for elderly, people with small children and those with mobility issues than the train or tube.

It smacks of corruption when to the east side of WW Bridge Rd there are literally multi million pound penthouses leading up to Chelsea Harbour which is under h&f Borough.

Do not see the same concerns for clean air in Hammersmith, Shepherds Bush or North End Road.
Excellent money making scam by having cameras that rake in a nice sum for the council.

Did someone say Hurlingham club members are exempt?

Actually i think that keeping cars & especially lorries and vans to main roads and not residential areas a great plan. Our narrow roads were not built for such massive lorries to trundle through nor the quantity of cars now present.

Evidence supports that road restrictions de escalates the use of short car journeys and encourages active transport such as, dare i say it, walking. We are blessed in this area with many grocery shops and mini supermarkets, so the need for that large car shop is reduced. In time people get used to walking more and not taking that 5 minute car journey. Thus 5 main outcomes:

Active travel promotes better health
Reduced car use frees up the roads for people who really need to use their cars, such as disabled people
Much safer roads for children going to school
Reduced fatalities of pedestrians and cyclists
Reduced air pollution is better for our health
and of course less fossil fuel use is better for the planet and human existence

So even reduced use of electric cars has the benefit of safer streets

It’s completely false news that Hurlingham guests will be exempt. That’s pure click bait from nappy valley.

If you look at the plans, they enable anyone to drive in to visit, deliver or use a service, what you can’t do is use the roads to cut through the area.

"Reduced air pollution better for our health"

So why is H&F Council "encouraging" all-day traffic jams of idling traffic from the Wandsworth Roundabout all the way to New Kings Road?

Why is H&F Council "encouraging" traffic to detour 6 to 8 miles burning much more polluting fuel to avoid £130 fines to cross to the north over the already busy Putney and Battersea Bridges?

"We are blessed in this area with many grocery shops and mini supermarkets"

Then why do nearly all of shop and supermarkets oppose these Traffic banning and pollution creating measures?

"If you look at the plans, they enable anyone to drive in to visit, deliver or use a service"

As long as they don't cross a spy camera which cuts the area in half (and pay £130 to H&F for the pleasure)

Re: Further Restrictions for Traffic on Wandsworth Bridge / Wandsworth Bridge Road -no access to wandsworth bridge rd

Postby Mental breakdown » Thu Jan 05, 2023 6:13 pm

I have been using the left turn off wandsworth bridge rd for yrs to go to the M4 & am now totally lost including my satnav confusion.Coming home tonight I came down kings the main rd towards the scooter shop where I usually turn right just before due to no right hand turn by the lights onto wandsworth bridge rd,this was about 13:30,my journey is usually 45 minutes max from work being a mobile engineer.I turned right as usual then noticed I couldn’t turn rright then left ,went straight on to next available turn left & found I couldn’t go through here either.after following another 6 cars I ended up back on the main rd going towards Kensington Westminster,it took an 1.5 hrs to get to the chelsea bridge then another 1.45 hrs to get home due to pure weight of traffic.Fulham council don’t care how polluted it is in the Boroughs where it is sending the traffic ,By doing what they have done there is now no way of getting onto the bridge rd .I can’t use a bike or scooter, train or other due to the equipment we carry.A filter lane is needed to allow access to the wandsworth rd like the other side has.
Fulham council have always been like this ,they don’t look before leaping & like politicians can’t give a straight answer.
I understand some people may have some form of breathing issue but it not all down to traffic which has been around for a long time & outputs have dropped due to regulations.
No warnings shown until you are on top of the signs which suddenly appeared.
I’m going to have my day in court due to tickets as they have cut an artery off to allow access to a main rd,we pay tax but can’t use the rds we pay for.I’d be happy for loads of drivers including myself to park up & stay in a rd stopping all traffic in Fulham .
Sick & tired of Fulham council doing what they want to do without any warnings. Also it’s a nightmare for everyone in Fulham not just residents, stand up & be counted ,the residents moaned now let them suffer with the traffic chaos.

If Hammersmith & Fulham want to keep traffic off the smaller residential streets, isn't it time to let eastbound traffic on the King's Road turn right directly onto Wandsworth Bridge Road?  If this were permitted, the problem would be much reduced.

Two things I’ve noticed: anyone who has gone northbound down trinity road in the morning will know how backed up it gets. I thought this was because of the congestion on Wandsworth bridge but actually the traffic light leading into the roundabout is only green for about six seconds so only a few cars can get onto the roundabout at a time. This has nothing to do with Fulham. I wonder why it’s so short?

Secondly I’ve driven to Heathrow a couple of times recently and both times Waze has directed me down the A3 and round the M25! So a huge detour increasing the use of fossil fuels (but quicker than going through Fulham!) Is this what’s known as an unintended consequence?!

There are no direct routes by bus . It’s a nightmare. Walking is tough as I do it but am in shape- the elderly and disabled and very young can’t . Cycling isn’t for everyone . If they are going to initiate changes like this they should improve public transportation with proper routes .

Does anyone know how I can get from Parsons green to the Sainsbury in Townsmead Road as there is no right turn from New Kings Road to Wandsworth Bridge Road?

Thanks

Seems to me Sainsburys in Townmead Road is becoming an exclusive supermarket for the residents who live in luxury apartments. Man at the till told me the shopping there is ludicrous, entire trolley full of champagne is becoming more and more a regular occurrence!

This is ridiculous. We go to hurlingham park every Sunday from south of the river. The route to get back involves looping around, more driving, more pollution. There aren’t any viable public transport options that wouldn’t more than double the trip time.
This obviously prefers one group of residents over others. Increasing pollution for those on main routes and in the parts you need to go to to do a u turn. We as tax payers not in the borough are paying for the roads yet we can’t use them. People who bought in the area would have known the traffic levels and the roads have bollards that restrict trucks. Absolute madness.

The question is will our now Labour Council advocate for us? This is absurd and so counterproductive for the purposes of reducing pollution.

Is it now impossible to come off new kings road somewhere to cross Wandsworth bridge? I could understand the cameras on the small residential roads but don’t get why no one can go down the road to imperial wharf adjacent to Wandsworth bridge road
