Re: Out of control schoolchildren on St Johns Road

I have not hijacked. I’m explaining why the social dynamic has changed between the commons/ CJ. My issues have been on Northcote Road/ between the commons involving Bolingbroke students & assuming they flow through to CJ.

The original post said 2 x Bolingbroke girls attacked a restaurant worker and the police were called.

Like I say - all the schools are connected as they swap the troubled kids between them. Eg, “we had no luck with him/her…now you try”

I have contacted the council, the police, the headmistress and the ‘school police officer’ (yes they have this) countless times - all of which falls on deaf ears & the feedback tends to be “it’s the parents responsibility” which there is truth to ofcourse, but judging by the children’s behaviour I’m assuming the parents are equally terrifying. I’ve even requested cctv cameras in the football cages on Wandsworth Common which also seems to be a problem.

Good luck with trying to find an answer as I had no luck with my suggestions. I tend to drive everywhere at the witching hour to protect my family.

Tbh homemaker, you sound extremely high strung and stuck up! Whilst I do agree with some of the things mentioned on this thread, i think you just wanted to get your point across about "how awful Bolingbroke is!" You have an axe to grind because of something you witnessed. I'm sorry to say, but you will get this type of behaviour in any school in any area, even in the top schools in the best areas. No one has opened this school up in YOUR lovely area to spite you. And the fact you want the feeder schools to change so it's just the 2 lovely primary schools in that area is kinda funny. What is so wrong with schools such as belleville wix? Lovely area, lovely children, right?

And we should all stick to schools that are directly in our neighbourhood? I'm sorry but I really am LMAO. I do apologise for wanting better for my children and not wanting to send them to a school where I feel they wouldn't benefit or flourish. So yes, my son has to travel to a school to get the best education he needs. I am ever so sorry if that means we dare walk into your neighbourhood from the outside. We also travelled to get him to primary school. Should we have just stayed within our tiny community though? I thought it was just gangs that had a problem with postcode wars.

As for the st John's hill... I agree. Absolute shambles after school hours and I know many people not willing to walk through there when needed. However, it's definitely more than one school.

Southside is much improved. Agree with NV husband WW Council needs to get involved as do schools in the local area.

My understanding is word gets out on social media, Snapchat etc to meet up and fight/ do whatever anti social thing . It's a variety of schools where children are silly enough to get involved. I don't think it's fair to blame parents meccesarioy and as they may have no idea what is going on, such is the insidious world of Social media. Also think schools should commit to making it policy that their kids do one or 2 after achool activities or sports. But I know funding is a problem.

Also want to add recently went to Guildford Spectrum. Hideous, dirty nappies everywhere. There were burly bouncers there to stop fight. Surrey also has its grim side.

I really hope @nappyvalleynet take a look at this thread and remove it. It contains numerous baseless accusations against Bolingbroke Academy and Ms. Edis, which in itself is a valid reason to do so. Furthermore, the evident snobbery around 'our area', and the prejudice against allowing 'the poor or underprivileged', as well as individuals from other postcodes [gasp] in, is deeply troubling. I urge the administrators to take appropriate action and remove this discriminatory content, designed to whip up hatred ASAP.

Homemaker you clearly have some problems here. But problems and opinions are rarely facts.

Bolingbroke has a feeder system from the local primary schools. Falconbrook is only behind Clapham Junction and still in the SW11 postcode. It is a local school.

Belleville and Honeywell have fed children into Bolingbroke from the outset, there is not a PR campaign to just have them attending at all. What tosh. The kids over a Belleville Wix, Wix, John Archer and Falconbrook are just as deserving as any other children to attend a local secondary school.

There will be kids with problems and difficulties in ALL secondary schools from Graveney to Harris to Emanuel. And there will of course be adults and families with the same difficulties.

Your comment about 'pointless masks' being used to 'mug people' probably doesn't even deserve addressing on this thread.

For anyone concerned about Bolingbroke having read Homemaker's comments may I recommend just visiting the school and looking at its recent GCSE stats - that will tell you a lot more about whether this is the school for you or not. Mrs Edis is a strong, thoughtful and hard working head teacher who has done so much for the school, she is always happy to speak to parents and parents-to-be.

Getting back to the original thread:
The kids I saw thieving from Co-op were not in recognizable uniforms - so not local school kids.

I wonder whether the recent tightening of security at Southside has meant that kids looking to hang out and stir things up have moved on to CJ?
I also wonder if this is being seen at Putney Exchange and Westside Shopping Centre too? More indicative of a sign of the times perhaps?

I’m just wondering why you bother to still read Nappyvalley when you have moved from the area?
Perhaps find a new local forum rather than post banal statements in this one asking in faux outrage why anyone would live in a dynamic, cultural, vibrant capital city like London.
The problem at Clapham Junction is a real issue that warrants real discussion. And I agree Bolingbroke is a real success story - it’s the thoroughfare of buses and trains that bring a lot of trouble.

I was in a local shop a couple of days ago at school kicking out time- and the shopkeeper said that although he has had trouble with Bolingbroke kids, apparently older kids at local prep schools are just as bad if not worse, have stolen stuff etc. You will get difficult/troubled/anti social kids everywhere. Or just kids who are entitled and think they are above the law/it’s funny to steal something from a sweet/toy shop as a rite of passage almost (which is terrible).

My eldest goes to a private girls school and I can tell you that some of the behaviour that goes on there isn’t ideal either. The other day I was walking down northcote Rd with my baby in his pram and a group of Bolingbroke kids were outside the fish and chip shop, I said, ‘excuse me please’ and they moved straight away and said sorry, very polite. This was a big group of older boys.

I don’t think it’s fair to blame one school.

I have lived 'Between the commons' for the past 35 years, and the only time that I have ever personally been harassed or witnessed bad behaviour from young people, was from Dulwich College pupils.  In the second instance the police were called.

Teenagers are the same from all backgrounds in my opinion, they all suffer the same insecurities and are desperate to fit into their peer group.  Showing off and wanting to look cool quite often means poor behaviour in public as we all know.  Plus good parenting is often in short supply for a lot of teenagers from all walks of life, so lets not blame the schools entirely.

Live between the Commons several years too.

The thread is rather exaggerated and shades of 'us and them' which I don't like ! I certainly don't think there is any no-go zone and the area is not in any way over-run.

McDonalds has had a security guard and string quartet music inside, daytime and at school finishing time for years and I think it has been a success story . The school students are only allowed in in small numbers, inside is tranquil and many of the elderly population gather there to socialise. They even wait on table. Ok its only fast food but that's a personal choice.
Things get a bit hectic from time to time, the security guard is large.
The individual shopkeepers can deal with the shoplifting or aggressive behaviour if needs be and anybody above posting who witnesses a specific school student (I don't know the badges) can report to the Head teacher in the usual way as has always been the practice.
