There’s a second round of admissions as well. If you look below your test score it tells you what previous years were. Last year was 239 on second round.

It’s detailed in the second link @Goldhawk circulated. They basically make the offers and then if they aren’t all accepted they drop the level needed by end August.

Does Wandsworth publish any statistics on the percentiles? E.g. a score of 255 would correspond to (I'm making this up) the 95th percentile, i.e. only the top 5% of pupils achieves this grade?

I'm now even more confused, so does that mean if my child doesn't get a space in March, then there's a possibility they may get a place in August. Their score was 261.

With 261 I would expect a place in March

After March the schools have waiting lists which do move as and when things change - people moving away etc - for statistics purposes the council uses the date in August to show how things have moved

with a score in the mid 250's or better I'd be comfortable buying a graveney uniform right now (well I'd wait because kids can grow unexpectedly but you get my drift).

mid 240s to early 250s I'd be confident but know there was some risk, I'd have half an eye on other options.

late 230s through early 240s I'd have some hope but not expectation, would be really actively considering the other options.

So if we are not in the catchment area, does that mean it will be harder to get into Graveney?

You should read the website.

It works *roughly* as follows (excluding funnies such as kids in care, kids of staff, etc):

1) are you one of the highest 75 scorers in the test who’ve not rejected Graveney? If yes you’re in, address irrelevant, if no go to (2).

2) are you a sibling? if yes you’re in, test scores irrelevant, if not go to (3).

3) there are X places remaining after steps 1-2, the X closest kids (who don’t reject Graveney) get in, test scores irrelevant.

Do bear in mind back in 2014 all Wandsworth primary school pupils took the Year6 test.
It has not been compulsory since last year I believe.(?)
I've seen speculation that this could be why the required test score for Graveney moved down more last year from 255 01March to 239 at end August, which is more than the 9point average drop seen historically over that time period.
There is first round and then a continuous waiting list over this time period rather than a formal 'second round'
Graveney's website Admissions page currently has a banner advertising a late test date for the Year6 test, which is interesting in itself
