Trendy and fun restaurant in City/Shoreditch

Postby abcdefg » Sat Nov 04, 2023 6:03 pm

Evening all

My husband has left it to me to book a table for quite an important lunch (not work) on a Friday lunchtime.  I'm after something a bit trendy and fun, but super nice too.  Our guests are in their 30's we're in our mid-40's so don't know where to go!  It's meant to be a treat but doesn't need to be super expensive just after something a bit special.

Might anyone be kind enough to suggest something?  I have looked at The Ned but not sure which restaurant is the nicest?

Thank you in advance!

I really enjoy the food and atmosphere at the Culpeper. Its a pub with a restaurant and a roof garden with its own produce ( for warmer days) . The food is very well done imho. Great choice if wine too. I don't know how fancy you were thinking. It is stylish in a laid back East London way. Take a look and good luck choosing. im taking note myself with recommendations 😀

I would not go to the Ned to be honest.

If you want Shoreditch and you want fun then Gloria's is fun (but not fancy I would say - definitely more fun !) otherwise Rochelle Canteen, The Clove Club or the new restuarant at the Hoxton. Maene (haven't been but really want to go !)
Or have you thought of Borough Market instead ? Bancone, Jose, or Pizarro. A new Wolseley is also opening near monument.

Agree on the culpeper. Brat is one of my favourite restaurants in London. the smoking goat underneath it is more rustic but excellent food (only really works if you like spicy south East Asian food though!) - run by the same people as kiln in soho). Lyle’s is more on the fancy end of things - along similar lines to clove club. If it isn’t too far, then brawn on Columbia rd is also excellent!
