Red Setter, has anyone been?

Postby Black Vanilla » Thu Apr 04, 2024 5:46 pm

Has anyone been to the new Red Setter on Northcote Rd and if so is it overly boujee? Meeting up with some old uni friends next week and wondering if it is worth trying and if it will be suitable? Prefer not to feel older than we usually do  Would love to hear from anyone who has been.

I went to the launch last night and it's fabulous - a massive step up from All Bar One which had needed a refurb for years.  They have moved the bar to the other side so that you now effectively have four or five different areas you can sit in, as opposed to just one vast room.  The kitchen is now semi-open, and the canapees they were serving last night were superb.  A large glass of their premium rose was £9 which I didn't think was too bad, and the staff were great - very smiley and friendly.  My wife works in the hospitality sector and apparently Urban Pubs & Bars who own it are really good operators, which always helps.

A bit early to tell, but I think this might just be my favourite pub on the street!!

We went for lunch on Wednesday and it was an older crowd and some families which suited us as we are old now too!

Walked past it at weekend and looked busy, younger crowd.

The food was good, the pricing is ok for the area and the cocktails are reasonably priced (for London) and in grown up proper glasseware. In fact I’d say its more grown up and it’s a nicely thought out refurb.

Staff exceedingly enthusiastic but no doubt will dial that down once they get used to the realities of working in Northcote Road ;-)

Definitely worth giving it a try. We will go back there again for midweek lunches and celebration cocktails.
