Fibre broadband (aka FTTP)

Postby DavidSmyth » Sat Nov 23, 2024 3:29 pm

Anyone know why the whole area Between the Commons north of Thurleigh Road is an FTTP desert? Openreach provides full fibre to the premises in Wansdworth and Balham but not Battersea. Can anyone shed light?

As a suggestion, why not contact them and ask them?

There’s community fibre fttp 1gbps been rollout across most of btc - broomwood road across to Battersea rise it’s been in the ground a year now . Do remember there is already competition in the ground with Virgin media cable . Maybe community fibre have secured the permitting rights and BT openreach see no reason to use limited capital in areas with heavy competition already.

I’d also add that G Network were spending something like £100m rolling out fttp across Battersea / lavender hill area . As I say openreach probably see no reason to overbuild and use limited capital to do so . They will be desert pockets of not passed homes as fttp is rolled out, I’d guess at some point providers will circle back and infill those areas. But community fibre and G network seem to be the ones building out fttp in Wandsworth / Battersea and BTC specifically
