Re: Children's homeopath recommendation?

I find some of the comments here very judgemental and aggressive. We are each entitled to our own view and opinion and choice. There is no right or wrong answer to this. We can only go by our own and others experiences.
Can I remind readers that thousands and thousands of people die every year from taking pharmaceutical products such as medicines. It is a well recorded fact that medicines have a wide range of very dangerous side effects, namely because they are tested on animals with a different physiology rather then humans. They are one of the biggest reasons for mortality rates in the world. And also have a detrimental effect on the body as they consist of chemicals not usually present in our system.
That said, homeopathy needs to be approached with care also, and any parent has the right to fully investigate any product before they use it. I agree that the principle of "If I am not happy to use it on myself I will not use it on my child" is very sensible.
I have tried conventional homeopathy and did not respond to it very well, I did not mentally respond well to the ingredients. I am very much into alternative medicine and listening to my body but I am also a very logically minded person who likes to see facts as well.
However I have started using a Homeopath at Neals Yard on Northcote Road that uses HEEL Homeopathic products. These products are from Germany and undergo constant rigorous testing, along the same lines as medical testing but on humans instead. They have evidence based results of the efficacy of their products. I use their products and have had amazing results. I am medically hypersensitive and have had no problem with these at all and in fact they have substantially reduced my chronic rhinitis to being almost non existent and my asthma symptoms. And that is after using a steroid nasal spray for about a year that did nothing and affected my thyroid due to the high steroid levels!
So I think each to their own and an open minded approach allows the opportunity for growth and learning and possibility in life. I listen to the experience of others, note my own experience and then make my own decision about what choices I make in my life.

I have done a bit of reading about homeopathy and from what I understand the only reason that homeopathy sometimes "works" is because homeopaths tend to do longer consultations than GPs. This makes the patient feel nurtured and cared for and listened to. This can result in the patient feeling better even though the remedies are nothing more than sugar pills.

So if an adult wants to see a homeopath and pay the money to have a nice long chat about all of their problems then that is no bad thing (other than for the persons's wallet!), but to do the same for a child just seems irresponsible to me, particularly for a more serious problem.

(And I was told by a well respected local homeopath that vaccines are all dangerous; and she told me that she was horrified when her own child went travelling to the tropics and insisted on taking GP recommended jabs)
