Rampton Baseley v Marsh & Parsons

Postby Newmum2010 » Sun Jan 15, 2012 2:08 pm

We're planning to put our BTC house on the market soon and have shortlisted it to Rampton Baseley and Marsh & Parsons. One thinks it's worth more than the other, but the other is offering us a better package, so we have a decision to make today!

I just wondered whether anyone had any experience of these 2 agents either as a vendor or a buyer.

They're both very good.

There are a number of agents on Northcote Road that I hear are truly awful and you haven't picked one of them :-)

We sold our place through M and P and they were very professional, although a lot of that is who you're dealing with.

A good friend let his place through RB and he was really pleased, felt like they did what they said they would and that, compared to some others, was a real plus point. The people he felt were really awful you haven't named!

I'd go with whoever you feel most comfortable with. Neither sound like they're going to be the wrong decision

Hello,

I'm afraid we had a really bad experience with RB - as buyers. After we made an offer on a house that had been on the market for a good five months and it was accepted, they put it back on the market just to test if they could get more from someone else... without telling us. We only found out because eventually, quite far into the buying process (by then, we had spent money on a survey and on solicitor's fees), someone else offered. I had thought that in the current climate they would have liked to appear a little more trustworthy.

Hoping that this is helpful.

Well……I would most definitely recommend Marsh & Parsons, but then I’m extremely biased!!

Whichever decision you make, I wish you the very best of luck with selling your property. There are plenty of great buyers, particularly looking ‘between the commons’, so I have every confidence you’ll get the result you’re looking for (although, to add a shameless plug (!!) we do have 15 excellent offices, three of which are located around the common, who all work together to help find the best buyers and ultimately get you the best possible price).

If I can help with anything in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards, Liza-Jane Kelly, Sales Director of Marsh & Parsons

If Lisa Jane is putting in a plug I thought I might as well! Joel Baseley here...

I would sugest popping into each office and meeting the teams. At the end of the day you have to have feel comfortable with, and have confidence in, the people who are showing your property.

Best of luck making your decision...

From my experiences as a buyer, I would say that if I were selling a property I would go with Rampton Baseley - but I might ask them to set the price a little higher than they might suggest (unless I was in a hurry to sell).

M&P did something which really annoyed me so I wouldn't go with them! But that's just my own experience.
