Nurseries for a 1 year old in Balham

Postby BeckyB » Sun Jan 22, 2012 5:07 pm

Hi There

I'm looking for a nursery suitable for a 1 year old when i go back to work full time...this wont be until next April but I want to get my name down on a waiting list - I've heard that places get snapped up pretty quickly!!

I have researched Nightingale Nursery, Bright Horizons and The Babyroom but I was wondering if anyone had any personal recommendations? Does anyone have any experience of these nurseies or any other suggestions?

Obviously I'm keen for a personal recommendation due to the young age my son will be when I have to return to work!

Thanks for your help
Becky

Hi Becky

My daughter's at babyroom in Balham and we love it - in fact I've just added a post to the end of a long chain of posts called "Babyroom on Webbs Road" which gives more info. Let me know by email if you've got specific questions.

I also looked at abacus, eveline's, grove hall, teddies, and the one in the grounds of ravenstone primary school (can't remember its name). For me, Babyroom was the one that 'felt right', but as I've said on the post I refer to above, you never really know until your baby has been there for a month or so (which I know isn't a terribly helpful thing to say to someone just looking).

The trouble with 'visits' to nurseries is that they give you such an odd snapshot (and to me, with no experience of nurseries, they all seemed chaotic!), and the only way to really get a picture of what a nursery is like is to be a parent of a child going to one, or speak to parents whose children go there - so you're doing the right thing asking on nvn.

Good luck!
