Smeg dishwasher repair

Postby GardenRosie » Tue Feb 21, 2012 1:34 pm

Hello

Does anyone know someone who could come and repair a dishwasher, at minimal cost? Its about six years old, I think its an electrical fault (getting stuck on the beginning of the cycle) and I am loathe to throw it out and by a new one for the want of a fuse.

I also don't want to have to unplumb it and cart it to a shop - does anyone know anyone who could come and fix it?

Thanks

Rosie

Ken fixed my washing which had a lose wiring and paddle need replacing. He came to our flat too and he wasn't expensive.

I am an engineer, but not a dishwasher one, but I have recently had to have some work done on mine..
It does sound like a control board problem as you say it gets stuck at the begining of the cycle.
So I would type in the exact model number and "control board" into google and look at what prices there are. In my case, if the control board had gone, I would have had to replace the dishwasher as the board and fitting would have been about £230 minimum. Mine is 11 years old. It was the pump, so the cost of fitting and new pump and unblocking a pipe came to a round £100.
The poor guy took all day though!!!

I've used Steve Neal, based in Brixton for washing machine fixing. Would highly recommend.
He fixes (& installs washing machines) dryers, dishwashers, ovens and fridges.
His callout charge is only £45. He's also pretty solution orientated and if he can talk you through fixing it yourself (for example just needing to clean the filter) he will do, and won't charge you for it. Steve Neale – 07921 777 428.

I would so recommend Steve - I called him, described the problem & he diagnosed it as we spoke. Great guy. So I need a new dishwasher!
