Recommendations for a Removal firm

Postby NYE31 » Tue Mar 20, 2012 1:54 pm

Can anyone recommend a local removal firm?

We hope to move house shortly & are staying in the SW18 area. We have an 8 month baby & need a reliable firm.

Many thanks

We used Paul Moves 4 U after several recommendations from other mums on NVN. I had a three quotes overall but they seemed by far the most considerate (of us, our 2 year old and our furniture) whilst being very reasonably priced. They turned up on time, were extremely efficient throughout and not one thing broken. They are based in Southfields SW19 but we moved within SW12.

Burke and Wills. Lovely, lovely guys. Not cheap but reliable and professional and even good with my little girl!

I moved three times with a baby of a similar age and used http://www.gentlemanandavan.co.uk/

I trusted them enough to just leave them with everything whilst I went to the delivery place - they were always really nice men and helpful and careful...

Good luck - its still rather stressful!

We moved in December (with our 9 months old baby) and used Aussie Man and Van (http://www.manandvan.biz). I not sure if they are the cheapest you can get but they are surely reliable. They provide boxes (+wardrobe boxes if you ask - those are very useful!) and they can even pack your things if you want (paid extra of course ;) )

I wouldn't recommend Aussie Handyman Services but I can surely recommend their removal team :)

Good luck with the move!

I had quotes from everyone to move a family home in 2010. (not an easy undertaking!) in the end i used a family company based in South London recommended by one of the nursery mums. They were lovely, reliable, polite and did a great job and had all the vans/staff/ uniforms like Pickfords, Burke and Will etc but were about half the price.
All I have though is the name of the guy who runs it and his mobile.

I always said I'd recommend him after the move! You won't be disappointed.
Good luck!

I can also recommend Paul moves for you. We used them in October & they were very polite and efficient at a reasonable cost.

We moved in October from Southfields to Earlsfield with a 14 month old and used Ecomovers (part of the Cadogan Tate group), based locally in Durnsford Road.

They were great - very punctual, efficient, professional and helpful. They were also very flexible about changing the date of our move and they set us up with an online page where we could make changes and our requirements ourselves.

We also paid for them to pack our whole flat up - which the guys did in under six hours. And to top it all they were the cheapest quote out of several companies I approached.

Best of luck with the move!

Hi, we moved recently and were really pleased with the service from James Removals, they were recommended to us by friends in Beckenham and we used them to pack and move us (and our 1 year old!) I have recommended them to a couple of friends since and all the feedback has been very positive. We found them extremely professional and cost wise alot cheaper than the more local firms.
