We went to an open day at the Asquith Balham Day Nursery on Radbourne Road a few weeks ago and thought it was very good.

My daughter's at babyroom and loves it - she's been going since just before she was 1. I've recommended it before, so if you do a search under 'babyroom' you should find what I've said. In short, we think they're great - very loving, caring staff and a good range of activities. We've really got to know them over the time she's been there and they do lots of things to involve parents (e.g. sports day last Friday for sports relief, a mother's day breakfast, christmas party, teddy bear's picnic etc.) so you get a good sense of what your little one is up to which is really nice.

My daughter went to Eveline Day Nursery in Trinity Crescent and I went there when was young (40 years ago!!!)

They have two local branches; one in Ritherdon Road and the other in Trinity Crescent. It is family owned and I highly recommend it. They also have a school in Balham High Road which has excellent feeders to Senior Schools such as Streatham High, Graveney, JAGs to name a few.

The school has excellent pastoral care and are very attentive to both yours and your child's needs. My daughter left as were due to move however, I still work in this area so my son will be going there as well. They seem to churn out well balanced confident, loving children and I feel this is very much due to their ethos, mature staff, low staff turn around and genuine interest in their children. They teach and play.

I definitely recommend a look - especially at the newly refurbished branch in Trinity Crescent which is where my son will be going.

I second Eveline day nursery. My 2 year old is at the Ritherdon road branch and he simply loves it there.
I also visited Bright Horizons and Stepping stones previously but much preferred Eveline as the staff are more mature and gave me a feeling of confidence and comfort that I was leaving my son within an environment that was caring and happy.

My son attends 2days a week but in the middle of the week he asks to go to "school" as he calls it to see his friends. That says it all to me...

My son, now just over 3, has been at Stepping Stones since he was 5.5months old (on a sliding scale from 1/2 day per week (minimum) to 4 1/2 days and 1 full day per week (maximum)). My daughter has been there since she was 9 month old (she is now 13 months old) on a sliding scale of 1/2 day per week to now attending 3 1/2 days and 1 full day per week).

My son has consistently adored attending nursery and, due to the very low staff turn over, has developed some very strong ties with many of the staff there both in the baby room, where he started, to the older kids room where he is now.

My daughter is now also really enjoying her time there. Both kids are always very relaxed about being dropped off there and equally so when I collect them.

I have always found the staff to be attentive, caring, patient (and boy they need to be as far as my son is concerned!!! ;-)), understanding and a pleasure to deal with so I couldn't be happier to recommend it. Feel free to PM me if you have more specific questions or I can be of any further help!

Good luck
xx
