Coffee mornings/mother & baby groups?

Postby Daisy cat » Mon Apr 02, 2012 1:11 pm

Hi, am new to this site so hello all. I have an 11 week old and am a bit lonely and in need of adult conversation. Just wondering if there are any coffee mornings/groups in the earlsfield area. Would love to join in!

Hi, it's a feeling many new mums can relate to so you're not alone.

You're not in my area but I've had a quick look on the NCT website as there's bound to be things not too far from you. You'd be in Wimbledon and Wandsworth branch, so have a look at these links:

http://www.nct.org.uk/branches/wimbledo ... playgroups

http://www.nct.org.uk/branches/wimbledo ... al-support

You're also not far from Clapham branch, so if you can get a bit further out easily, there are these groups available too:

http://www.nct.org.uk/branches/clapham/ ... ler-groups

Also, you can pop along to one o'clock clubs and get chatting to other new mums there:

Breastfeeding cafes are a great place to have a cup of tea and chat to new mums too:

Good luck, I'm sure you won't find it hard to meet other mums - everyone is in the same boat!

Hi there! I know just how you feel and finding people and places to go with a very small baby can be hard at first but you will be fine and have a diary full of fun things before you know it.
I felt very similar after my first child was born which is why I started up a singing group.
I don't know if this might be of interest but I am just in the process of restarting my mother and baby singing group; Thula Mama, after the birth of my second child.
The group is well suited to newborns and any baby up until they start to crawl. I teach mums gorgeous songs, lullabies and songs from around the world in beautiful a-cappella harmony. It is a small group, held at my house and no previous singing experience is necessary. I provide tea and biscuits, a supportive atmosphere in which to feed, meet people and nurture your baby. If you fancy finding out more do email me at jess.thulamama@googlemail.com. Or check out http://www.thulamama.co.uk to hear a sample of the sorts of things we sing.
Thanks
Jess

Try the One o'clock club in Garratt Park - they are open 1-4pm I think. You just drop by and there is a baby sensory room. I'm not sure if they also run classes...if not try some other Children Centre's in the Wandsworth area as they may run things like baby massage and other courses for free. Good way to meet to people if you attend over a few weeks.

The church across the street from Earlsfield Sainsburys runs a morning playgroup 9:45 to 11am on Wed and Friday mornings but there is likely a wait list to get in. Drop by at 9:45is and ask them about joining.

You could also try rhyme time at the local library (er...maybe when your baby is a bit older!) they may have other things there too. Ask your health visitor / mid wives at the local weigh in clinic about different groups in the area - they should have brochures and various things to give you.

I think there is also a free play morning on Thursdays at the Henry Prince Club on Garratt Lane - they mentioned it at my playgroup and the facilities are suppose to be good.
