Uk camping recommendations please

Postby sparkletiger » Fri May 18, 2012 7:52 pm

We're hoping to do some camping this summer. Am I mad?! We bought a biggish tent about 3 years ago and havent used it yet. Beyond Glastonbury I don't really see myself as the camping type, like being one comforts too much. But DH and DDs (age 4 and 1) up
For it. So in a bid to get prepared I'd welcome any campsite recommendations. Preferably within a couple of hours drive.

Also any tips on surviving camping with children would be very welcome!

Thanks

Hey,

We're big campers here. I particular like the Park Resorts sites. We normally do the Isle of Wight but have just booked a Camber sands trip as like you we want to be as close to London as possible. Will let you know what the site is like.

If you're tempted by a family friendly festival, I'd highly recommend the Green Man Festival in Wales. We took our twins last year (they were about 15 months at the time) and we all had a great time (albeit we didn't exactly pack light....but not a problem as the family parking was only about 15 mins from the family pitches, not an 1hr or so like at Glasto).

Good luck!

I've not camped since a child but my best friends are very into it. They love Hidden Spring in Sussex. They've bigged it up so much they've persuaded me to try it so am spending my birthday there in Sept with our two boys (age 3 and almost 2). We're having a yurt to ease me into the camping experience!
