Hi,

Could anyone recommend a REALLY good cleaner?

I am very precious about cleaning and somehow cannot find a very good cleaner i.e. someone who will think of moving the toy trunk to hoover behind it or move the toaster to wipe the crumbs below it.

Also, someone who can actually fold and iron clothes properly would be good.

I don't think I am asking for the impossible but somehow I am still looking for a cleaner who can do all this without having to ask her. I believe that a professional cleaner should know all that and it is not my role to train the cleaner.

I am happy to pay £10 per hour for 5 hours per week on Fridays.

She'll do as much or as little as you want - just ask (we have her do a basic clean and ironing once a week but we ask for additional things like a complete fridge clean out once in a while. Not sure if you've found someone yet but my cleaner is looking for extra work as one of her employers is about to leave London. She's worked for me for 6 years & is very trustworthy and an excellent cleaner. she is on the expensive side but a lot more efficient so it evens out (she does our 5 bed house in 4 hours to an excellent standard where all previous cleaners I'd had did a poor job in 5 hours)

Having tried using independent cleaners over the years (with diastrous results) so when I needed to have a cleaner again, I use a cleaning company called Dirty Cows. I had come a cross their cleaners in some of my baby jobs and always noticed how thorough, polite and careful they were.

Sophie Evans is the owner. She comes to your home in the first instance and gos through everything that you want doing, and how, noting any precious items that should be cleaned/moved in a specific way. They prepare a worksheet and the cleaner works to that each week, unless you leave specific intstructions to the contrary on their Client Communication Sheet - which you write on if you are not home when your cleaner arrives. Our cleaner was absolutely super - always thorough and always punctual. Even when she managed to get ahead of herself, she pounce on my ironing (which I'd never asked her to do). I was away from the house that day, so she could easily have just left early, but she never does. They are a bit more pricey than paying an individual - but you get what you pay for in this life.

Looks like you have plenty of options but since I like her so much , I am going to throw our cleaner Andrea in the mix. She has been fantastic and do things exactly how you want them done .

I leave instructions for her and then I come home to a beautifully clean, tidy and ordered house .
