Breastfeeding in public, what cover to use

Postby laurabebeparfait » Thu Nov 15, 2012 2:01 pm

Hello to all the mummies new and old!
When I was pregnant I was really dreading having to breastfeed let alone breastfeeding in public! I am quite shy and definitely did not want people to have a glimpse of my ginormous breasts!!! I used a nursing cover and couldn't have done without it but it has its flaws i.e the holes in the corners were supposed to be pockets and things would fall out of them. There were not that many fabric patterns to chose from and they were all rather busy. That's when I thought that I should make my own covers so that for my next baby I will be uber prepared. And this is the reason why I created Bebe Parfait. I launched my small business 2 weeks ago selling handmade nursing covers with little extras so I can distinguich myself from the others on the market. Please have a look at my website www.bebeparfait.com and see for yourself. Also I am trying to help the local (Vietnamese) community as much as possible. If you live in Wandsworth area we could arrange to meet so no delivery fees. If you know someone who is pregnant and who intends to breastfeed please tell her about Bebe Parfait. Christmas is around the corner so this is a great gift idea.Thank you in advance for your support.

Hi Laura

I've had a look at these and would be really grateful if you could send me a sample. I work with lots of new mums who have to get to to grips with breastfeeding in pubic for the first time  and they sometimes feel rather embarrassed or awkward to start with. I normally recommend another feeding cover, but love the colours and designs you offer. If you wouldn't mind donating one to me, I can use them to demonstrate to my mums and then pass on your website details for ordering.

Good luck with your new venture. :D

Well - Laura very kindly sent me a sample and I have to say that they are very lovely. The material feels soft and almost silk-like and the colours in the one I chose are bright and cheerful. The neck collar enables you to watch your baby whilst feeding and the material doesn't flop onto to the baby's face. There are even convenient little pockets in it to hide your choc chip cookies or secret stash of sweeties! I've show it to a few mums lately and they all like it. They would make a lovely Christmas prezzie for any new mum. :D

I am so glad you are impressed with your Limoncello cover Hattie. Yes, we do like bright colours and soft fabrics.
There is still time to buy one as a Christmas present! Or if you are invited to a baby shower then this is a perfect gift idea too ;)
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any question.

Just had a quick look at your website which looks great and the covers look lovely, my own view is that a photo or perhaps even better, a little video clip of a mum demonstrating how to use it would be helpful as although your descriptions are thorough, personally I would want to see it in action before I bought one (although I am not expecting so don't actually need one more thinking back to that phase!!)

Hi Magdalen,

Yes, a video is the next addition to the website which should be available soon.
Thanks for your suggestion.
