Long ski weekend with children

Postby Gillak » Wed Jan 16, 2013 10:44 pm

We are considering a long weekend away skiing with our 2 children aged just over 2 and 9 months. Has anyone done this and could you recommend a company that could organise somewhere with childcare? Or are we nuts to even consider it?!

We looked at this last year & it was almost impossible, the family friendly firms only do a week or more & we tried to book ourselves & just couldn't get flights that worked, hotels that were suitable & all in a family friendly resort.

If you fancy a week, try http://www.espritski.com/ & if you do manage to sort out a long weekend, please let me know as we'd love to go :)

Hi there, some friends of ours swear by a resort called Ste Foy (it's a village just below Val d'Isere) and there is a company there called Premier Neige. They have a creche service if you book one of their chalets. Depending on when you want to go (as long as they're not completely fully booked) they would probably be able to arrange a chalet or apartment for a long weekend rather than the whole week.

Alternatively we have a friend that looks after various chalets in Chamonix who would be able to arrange child care to come to you for around 10 euros an hour. The difficulty with a hotel room as opposed to a chalet/apartment is that obviously the space in a hotel is going to be a bit limited for a nanny & 2 children.

When we looked at this two years ago we found a couple of nanny agencies in the bigger resorts (Merinannies I think was one) that provided nanny services so it might be worth researching that side of things.

PM me if you want more details of my friend in Chamonix.
