Anyone here live on the Heaver Estate?

Postby btcmum » Thu Jan 24, 2013 1:21 pm

We are looking to move from our current house (Between the Commons) to the Heaver Estate in Balham/Tooting. Do any of you nappyvalleynetters live that way? If so I would love to hear your thoughts on the neighbourhood, schools, facilities, etc.... and if you happen to be thinking of selling your house (or know someone who is) even better!!!

Thanks so much,

BTCMUM x

We don't currently, but we are about to make the same move. We were convinced to do it as the houses are so big and you get much more house, and more importantly (for us) garden for your money. You're only a 10 minute walk from Balham too. We looked at a lot of properties and most of them are for sale with Heaver www.heaver.net.

There was a thread on here a few months ago about the same thing, which is partly what made us start looking.

Good luck!

We love living on Heaver estate. I meet up with a mum I knew before moving here and lots of mums seem to naturally congregate at deelight bakery but there doesn't seem any mechanism for meeting other Heaver mums - most of my balham friends are still my Nct friends.

Hello, I'm also a mum on the heaver. Weirdly I've not met any other mums in the heaver since I had my son- all my friends live the other side of Balham. I think the area of heaver I'm on tends to have families with grown up kids but many of the roads nearer Balham high road I think have more families with younger children. Lovely place to live by the way. Gorgeous properties, v close to common, ritherdon road... Etc

Hi there
I live on Childebert Rd which Estate Agents classify as Heaver (not sure if it really is). It is a lovely area, a lot more mixed than Between The Commons as the gentrification process is not so far along. Personally I like a little more diversity so it suits me. Little word of warning re schools in that houses near the common are sometimes in a primary school black hole (ie not near enough to the popular ones) so if you are considering state education then check this out. The new school (Rutherford House) opening September will probably help this though.
Other than that, the common is great, Ritherdon Road has a nice feel to it with the cafes (including Dee-Light) and shops and it is a short walk to Balham. There are loads of families, plenty of good nurseries, and lovely local schools (if you get in!).
Oh and the properties are lovely, some stunning ones if you can afford them... If you have specific queries please ask but would wholeheartedly recommend living here.
