glass splashbacks

Postby lulu » Tue Jan 29, 2013 8:07 pm

Hi there

Can anyone recommend a company to do glass splashbacks for a kitchen? I would like them back painted "strong white", a farrow and ball colour. I had someone deliver one last week but it is a disaster - it looks turquoise because of the green tint in the glass. If anyone knows of someone who can supply a splashback that is true to colour I would be very grateful.

Thanks!

Would highly recommend Jamie Lincoln. He did some sash window glazing for us and made a bespoke mirror. we saw some of the splashbacks he was making in his workshop. very meticulous! lovely guy, v.competitive prices, professional job

My kitchen 500 pound fitted. 5 pieces of glass about 10 ft by 2ft. Was quoted 3k before I found Brompton - all it is, is toughened glass painted or sprayed with car paint with backing of mirror paper ... Don't over pay

We used Balham Glass just off Weir Rd. They were great and about a third of the price quoted by other companies.

Lulu,

I asked my kitchen guy about your query who came back with the following response

"She must have had a lower cost glass supplied. What she requires is 'low iron' glass which takes away approximately 70 -80% of the grey-green tint. The Farrow and Ball 'Strong White' can be used on low iron glass quite well as that particular Farrow and Ball colour itself has a slight grey tinge.

It will look quite white when placed against a darker colour, but may have a very very slight grey tinge when placed against say a polar white.

We could take a look and also provide samples if she has not been served yet."

If you need Francis's number please do not hesitate to ask

Stan

Hi
A friend of mine runs a company called Glartique / Decoglaze - they specialise in bespoke splashbacks - this is right up his street. Give Ashley a call - mention me and you may get a little bit off.

Juno glass - i wanted a particular colour splashback back and went there myself on the recommendation of my builder. Gave the measurements and a sample pot and collected the finished piece for fitting a few weeks later.
