Knitting/Sewing groups/classes?

Postby franlib » Sat Feb 02, 2013 9:26 pm

Hi there
I would like to learn to sew and make things like bags and dresses, and also would like to improve my (very basic) knitting skills. Does anyone know of sewing/knitting classes in battersea/clapham area, or of any groups, or is anyone an expert sewer/knitter and would like to trade their skill for private yoga and/or Italian lessons?
thanks!

I highly recommend Sew Over It in Clapham North.

I did a Intro to Sewing course (on a machine) and loved it. They have small groups and they do knitting classes too. I'm already thinking of booking onto another!

I've been wanting to set up a knitting circle for ages. I've been knitting for eight years and I'd be happy to pass along what I know. I've got a toddler so I'd like to find some place where the little ones are busy so the mums can knit, I was thinking Bees Knees or Eat, Play, Love.

Sew Over it is great. With regard to knitting circles, my friend runs one called "Stitch Balham" at the BBC bar in Balham on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm. It's free, v welcoming and you can take any projects along - they're v friendly. X

Hello! I would love to exchange yoga for sewing classes! I teach at Sew Over It, so can definitely recommend them too! But, if you want to learn in your own home, then we could do it there, and you could teach me yoga. I am a beginner, and struggle with some of the local classes, which seem to insist I need to do headstands! I am happy to teach you to make bags, cushions, curtains, quilts, etc. Give me a call - 07815135010 Autumn.

I'm going to arrange a knitting circle, during the school day, little ones are welcome. If you are interested please post a preferred day and time and I'll try to accommodate as many as possible. If you don't knit but would like to learn do not be shy I'll be happy to teach you.

I'll start another thread as soon as I've nailed down the venue.

I would be interested in a sewing or knitting circle. I can't knit but would love to learn but I'm left handed. I've had a cross stitch I started whilst I was preggers but never finished as I can't find the time at home so would be great to have somewhere I could bring the little one and focus on it!
