I've just come across this posting and I wanted to ask if anyone could recommend a dermatologist, preferably at St George's?
My daughter is 3 and has had eczema since birth. It comes and goes and we've tried everything that has been discussed before and nothing completely stamps it out. We're now in a situation where she doesn't want to put clothes on as it irritates her skin so much. It's making her and me miserable, poor thing.we are practically confined to our house now!
Any names would be so helpful.

We were referred by GP - we used insurance - not sure if she does NHS. Was excellent and completely changed my childs skin regime - we also saw Luise Marino - who is a Dietitian also at the same practice.

If you have a look on some of your products be ware of lanolin. Aloe vera gel for broken skin and inflamation best kept in the fridge, vitamin d and food rich in folic acid also. Drinking plenty of water for hydration of the skin.

Massage is also very good for the skin especially on the head as it encourages oils to nourish the scalp.

My sister has bad skin and she used diprobase, doublebass ect. Try hemp body butter on adult skin from the body shop! Highly recommend!

We use double base for our little boy, it does a great job.
Also try and stay clear of any soaps or baby Johnson products as they also dry out the skin.

Try Extra virgin organic coconut oil, rub onto the affected area. We have found Biona to go be good. Also Epson salts in the bath with soften the water, and so won't dry the skin out

At the risk of teaching my grandmother to suck eggs, I've had quite bad eczema for the past couple of years which I couldn't seem to get rid of. As a last resort I changed my washing liquid from Ariel bio to Fairy non-bio and the eczema has vanished. The clothes are still pretty clean too!

In terms of lotion, my son also gets eczema, and I've found the Aveeno baby products to be great. They don't sell them in the UK but you can get them shipped from the US (try Amazon). They do an eczema lotion for babies and one for adults, both of which are great but the baby Daily Moisure Lotion is also great for keeping the skin healthy and soft. The products are non-greasy so are much pleasanter than a lot of emollients.

I was suggested Aveeno cream....off the shelf job, really cleared up my babies very bad dry skin/eczema. Nothing else came close xx

Has anyone tried the Salt Caves for eczema?
Both my son and I have rhinitis so we have been going once a week, my husband was highly sceptical but after about 6 weeks we noticed that my son's runny nose had cleared up and I stopped taking antihistamines everyday. It has been so good for us I am almost evangelical about the place There is a children's room with a telly and toys - it is recommended for eczema, psoriasis, respiratory problems. I tried it as I thought the worst that could happen is that it didn't work - there are no side effects from salt on your skin!
The only down side is that we stopped for 8 weeks (other committments for our Saturdays) and the symptoms have returned, but they are less virulent. We shall be going back.

I have found going to soft water areas does the trick! London water is so drying. Plus exposure to the air.

Dr John Fysh at the Portland prescribed cetroban bath additive, aqueous cream instead of soap and diprobase cream morning and night. Worked for us and all free on prescription.

Just a question - have you got a water softener installed? One of my nieces had shocking eczema. Got rid of the water softener and - bingo!
