Architect/Structural Engineer Recommendations Please? Post Reply

Hi everyone

We are at the (very) initial stages of planning a ground floor extension to our kitchen and wondered if anyone could recommend a decent (and good value) person to produce some drawings to put to the council planning department which would also include structural/steel/material specifications so that our builders can give an accurate quotation.

I understand prices can vary quite significantly so any steers would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Camille,

my husband is an architect who owns his own practice, One World Design (http://www.one-worlddesign.co.uk/). He has a wealth of experience from working for Building Design Partnership (BDP), the largest architectural practice in Europe, and started his own practice up in 2011.

As you'll see from his website, his practice has successfully achieved planning permission for a number of house extensions, and as a relatively new practice they will be able to offer you a very competitive fee with a quick turnaround.

Good luck with the extension. We had our flat extended a couple of years ago, before our daughter arrived, and are really pleased with the result - I know a good architect

hi Camille - if you haven't found anyone yet I used Steve Burr last year when we moved to SW19. He was great (house had a LOT of issues) and I thought it was very reasonable not that these things are ever cheap.
