Trendy boys haircut - where to go?!

Postby la-la » Sat Feb 16, 2013 5:33 pm

Yet another post about children's haircuts - apologies in advance nut here goes!

My son has long-ish hair - kind of surf bum style! I am slightly fussy about where he has his hair cut as we've had not great haircuts from hairdressers before (from Happy Faces to Headmasters). My latest find which was FAB was Emma at Sloupe on Nightingale Lane but she has just left and they are fully booked for the next week anyway. Can anyone recommend anywhere which is reasonably-ish priced and does good trendy boys haircuts.

Thank you!

I have just had my own haircut done at Toni &guy. The lady there told me that do 20% off on kids hair cut Monday to Friday. But I don't know if they are good or not for what you want for your boy.

I used Becs at Headmasters Balham for my 8 year old sons longish hair ... I did sit next to her telling her not short every 2 minutes but was pleased with result. Failing that I had a good results on Trotters Kings Road ... I asked for the slightly older woman who was excellent and they're used to mums not wanting a barbers job! Good luck

I really recommend Costas and Andys on Garratt Lane Earlsfield. They are a barbers and fantastic with kids!

I second the post re Sally. My kids have quite different looks - one long/shaggy, one neat and she totally listens and delivers what you ask for. Before finding Sally, I also had bad experiences with Trotters and Happy Faces doing what they wanted not what we wanted

My daughter recently had a haircut at Sally's on Northcote Road and I agree with the last post on this topic... Sally does a great job. My friends all liked my daughter's hair cut so did my mother-in-law and of course me :-)

My son is extremely fussy about his hair and we have tried so many places from kids hairdressers to barbers and finally we stopped at the team at HeadSouth on Northcote Road. We tell them exactly what we are wanting - last time we took in a picture too. And they do a fantastic job. My son is 9 and it cost £21, believe it is less for younger ones - which I think is about what the kids hairdressers are charging presently anyway. They take them and wash their hair - which my son loves, very relaxing, and cut their hair and blow dry - a proper hairdressing experience. Worth every penny.

We've taken our son to Trotters, Sally's but more recently to The Worx on Brookwood Road in Southfields (on the grid) and of all of them, I am most pleased with The Worx and they are also the cheapest at £8.

£21 for a kid's haircut? £21?

I'm also in the same situation. I have two boys, one with a typical standard boys haircut but one with longer (just above shoulders) surfer hair.

It doesn't matter where I take the one with the standard cut as pretty much everyone can deal with that type of style but my son with the longer hair is a real toughy.

Not had a great experience with Happy Faces, Francesca Alexander cut it into a bob and Sally's was a little bit slow on the cut (for one that's fine but one of mine has no patience).

I'm so terrified of them messing up his cut and I desperately want to have it styled so I've booked him into Edward James on Northcote Rd with Edward. £30 for the haircut, stupidly expensive but worth it if it doesn't get hacked off.

Thanks for all the tips. I've had the same experience at Headmasters at Clapham South turning my sons haircut into a bob. My thinking was that anyone able to do adult haircuts must be able to cope with a 4 year olds but apparently not!

Thanks for all the tips. I was recommended Mellissa the mobile hairdresser so if anyone has had any experience with her I'd be grateful to hear about it. Otherwise it sounds like Sally's in the lead!

Thanks!

We all go (i.e. the entire family) to Daniel Scuffell on The Pavement, near the paddling pool on Clapham Common. My 10 year old recently wanted to copy Jack Frost's haircut from the Rise of the Guardian!

Just checking if anyone else has recommendations for this type of boys hair? My sons hair is getting a bit too unmanageable so desperately needs a cut (longish/wavy but not quite curly). everyone I've tried so far has butchered it!

TIA
