Formula abroad...

Postby HighchairHostess » Mon Feb 18, 2013 10:46 am

I still give my lo 1yr + formula. We're going abroad, do I take powder and use bottled water? Or do I take those pre made up bottles? My husband thinks they may explode on the plane... is he talking nonsense? Anyone travelled with them before? In hand luggage and/or in your suitcase....

Hiya,

depending on where you are off to, they should have ready made milk in cartons there as well.

If using powder, you need to boil tap water rather than use bottled water as most bottled water contains high levels of sodium I think it is, which is bad for babies. Or you could try getting lo used to cows milk before you go? Don't think ready made cartons would explode though, but who knows... but the hassle of bringing a load of those seems a little bit annoying. If doing that, they will have to go in your checked in luggage as it's over 100ml and they might make you open and taste every single one if they are in your hand luggage.

Thanks Kat - that's really helpful... I think i am going to do a mixture of both - take a few cartons just in case and for the sheer convenience and then also take some powder.
