Ballet for a 3 year old

Postby theessentialtouch » Tue Apr 16, 2013 11:50 am

Can anyone recommend a good ballet class for a three year old?
I was taking her to Butterfly Ballet at Fybre Fitness on a Saturday afternoon, but they've moved their sessions to a Friday after school which doesn't suit our schedule.

There are so many different classes around that I'd prefer to go with a recommendation. Also can you pls advise if there is a compulsory ballet costume.

Thanks

We've been going to Spring School of Ballet on Abbeville Road for almost 2 years now. The teachers there are amazing (especially Ms Kerry). Yes, they do ask to buy their ballet costumes, but I notice they don't really make a lot of fuss if a child has a different outfit, as long as it's in the school colours and allows good movement.
The school website is ssballet.co.uk in case you'd like to check the timetable for the Clapham classes.

Hi there! Don't know if you've found a class yet, but we do ISTD Ballet, Tap & Modern Theatre Dance from 3 years old up to Adult. We do Grade and Vocational Graded exams & performances. If you want to check-out times, our website is www.danceacacia.com. Under fives Ballet is on Monday at 3.30pm or Saturday at 10.30am. Primary classes (including beginners aged 5-8 who haven't taken the Primary exam) are on Saturday at 9.50am - 10.40am, and after school (but we may change the day in September - it's up for discussion). Tap and Modern for 5-8 year beginners are on Saturdays from 11am - 12noon, and after school, but again, we're changing the day!
There is a uniform that the children wear for exams, as well as in class, but I never insist on parents getting it straight away, and we sell it cheaper than shops. (I don't mind if they come for a few weeks, and then when you know if they'll like it, get it gradually, piece by piece - what isn't advisable is to rush out and buy a pink tutu because the new ballerina wants one - they always look on it as a dressing up session then, and although I want them to enjoy dancing as much as I do, it is a lesson)!
We're in Wandsworth Road, but very near the end where it meets Lavender Hill. You can pay weekly for the first term and then we send out invoices, but the termly fee can be paid in instalments (just not every week - it's too much paperwork)! Pre-Primary & Primary Ballet are £3, and Modern and Tap slightly less if they do ballet as well. If you've got more than 2 children, they can all come, but you only have to pay for the first two!
