Belleville catchment area

Postby SabineMum » Tue Mar 26, 2013 1:27 pm

Just interested to know how close (i.e. which streets!) to Belleville you need to live to get in as things currently stand. The council have told me the distance between the school and house of the furthest people to get in, but it's difficult to know what that means in actual terms - Belleville Rd I suspect would get you in as well as the part of Webbs Road that runs behind the school - but how about Berber Road, Chatham Road, Salcott Road, Bennerley Road, Mallison Road, Chatto Road, etc?

Many thanks!

The catchment area for Belleville (and obviously all schools) varies from year to year and is also determined whether there were a large number of siblings in that given year.

The furthest child offered a place before the start of term September 2013 (via shortest walking distance) for Belleville was 469m.

Note however, the intake for September 2014 will be the first using the "as the crow flies".

Wandsworth use a straight-line measuring system which is measured by their graphical information system from the property to the centre point of the school but their bespoke commercial mapping system isn't available for public use so you'd have to rely on the online route tools/systems which will give a rough idea.

Isn't the intake for September 2013 the first to be 'as the crow flies'? Have the people who've applied already been told the outcome? I thought it was to be after the Easter holiday? Thanks

Yes, it already applies for September 2013 intake.
My youngest daughter is due to start Reception this year, so we're waiting to hear the results this coming week (notification day is April 17, so not too long now :-))

Thank you Audrey. The previous posts suggests that the new system will only apply for September 2014 so I was a little confused. Would love to know what the furthest distance is when people find out next week. How close are you? Good luck!

We're about 300m from Belleville, but we also have Honeywell down as we're closer to this school. Whatever we'll get, we'll be very happy. They are both very good schools!

Best of luck! It's great to be in a position to qualify for either as the new system surely means that the furthest child be will closer than ever before and the intake area extremely small! Looking forward to hearing what the new distances are later this week.

SabineMum

Apologies...it should have read
The furthest child offered a place before the start of term September 2012 (via shortest walking distance) for Belleville was 469m.

Note however, the intake for September 2013 will be the first using the "as the crow flies"

Thanks for the previous poster in correcting :(

For those who did get into Belleville or Honeywell I'd be very interested to know how close you live to the schools! Many thanks ;)

We got in to Honeywell (first choice) but we're approx. 100 meters away, (Straight line!) so it would have been crazy had we not.

We also got Honeywell as our first choice, we're less than 100m away.

No idea how many meters but we're at the top end of Salcott Road (Leathwaite Rd side) and just got into Belleville. Phew!
