Hi
I can't see any reference on the Wandsworth Council site to a service that they offer, they simply redirect you to the Real Nappy Campaign website. However I've emailed a few of the companies on that campaign website to ask if they cover Sw London and I'll let you know as soon as I have an answer.

Maybe we should be postering the council for a scheme... :?:

Thanks for your help. I think we should get onto the council. Many other councils offer this!

We have a monthly newsletter that goes out to all of our registered mums.

In the next newsletter (end of March) I'll ask if they are interested in a petition to the council.

Any friends you have who might also be interested can you can ask them to post here - the more idea of support for it the better.

Good idea! :)

Cheers

Hi
I'm not sure where you are based but all I could find today is a service that covers Lambeth. I'll try a few more places tomorrow...

Hi
I did get some feedback on nappy services, this was the reply so hopefully this is of use...

Hello Annabel

Thank you for your interest into real nappies.
You asked about a nappy service. Can I just clarify that you mean a nappy laundry service? If so, there is a company that covers the area of Wandsworth called Hippy Happy Nappy (http://www.hippyhappynappy.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; /Tel. 020 8915 0388).

Hi there,

Does anyone know if a petition went round Nappy Valley netters re. getting Wandsworth to sign on to the real nappy scheme?

I've looked on their site and our borough still doesn't appear to be supporting real nappies which is really disappointing!

Did you give Hippy Happy Nappy a go Munchkins? Are they any good? Any other recommendations for nappy laundry services in our area?

Hi

Just found this thread when looking for a nappy service in Wandsworth - and was wondering if anything had happened...

Did a petition get sent round Nappy Valley netters re. getting Wandsworth to sign on to the real nappy scheme? Considering the birth rate here and the number of mums and babies, this borough really should be onboard!

Has anyone tried HIppy Happy Nappy? Any other recommendations for nappy laundry services in our area?

Thanks,
Shannon

Hi Shannon,

I don't know if a petition went to the council last year but hopefully Annabel can shed some light on this for us? I'd certainly be interested in putting one together / signing one if anyone else is interested and it hasn't already been done though admit I don't really know how / where to start. :?

I'm also keen to hear whether anyone has used Hippy Happy Nappy as am still really keen on using a nappy laundry service when my little one appears later this year - surely someone on here has tried them if they are the only company that cover Wandsworth?

Thanks,

NYAM x

Hi NYAM,

Yes, I'd definitely like to try to get Wandsworth on board with the Real Nappy scheme too, but am not sure where to start either. I actually rang the number for Hippy Happy Nappy today, but it's been disconnected - so I've sent an email, but am not encouraged. I also found this service.

http://www.numberonefornappies.co.uk/index.html

which is supposed to cover all of London, but there's not much info at all on the website....

I'd be keen to sign a petition or contact the council to encourage them to join the scheme - has anyone tried this website, they've contact numbers and email addresses?
http://www.realnappiesforlondon.org.uk/

Although I'm on the verge of potty training, I've used washables since birth for my 2 year old and found them so easy. I'm amazed not more people use them, they're not as bad or as difficult as everyone might think and I think it's really important to encourage others to use them.

Hiya,

Thanks for the link Suzy. I'm going to contact both Real Nappies for London and Wandsworth council tomorrow to shed some light on the matter.

I'm as surprise as you, Suzy, that Wandsworth aren't part of the scheme - you'd think there'd be lots of people in Nappy Valley using or wanting to use real nappies?

I'll report back when I have spoken to them.

Any news from Hippy Happy Nappy, Shannon? I'll give that place you sent me a link to a call in the morning too. I agree that there isn't much information on there!
