Gucci watch repairs

Postby wendyb » Thu May 09, 2013 10:31 am

Can anyone recommend somewhere local that I can get my Gucci watch serviced/repaired? The second hand isn't sweeping smoothly and I'm not sure if it's the battery or something else. I want to take it to someone who really knows what they're doing.

Thanks.

Is it losing time? Generally that indicates a battery issue, however if the second hand is a little sticky then it could need a service.

Anywhere that sells Gucci is normally an approved stockist, and any and all repairs need to be sent to them. They do not honour any warranties or take any responsibility if something goes wrong outside of them. They take a while to get your watch back to you, which is annoying, but at least you know it's in the right place.

I speak from experience as a former jewellery/watch retail manager, and could recommend somewhere like Ernest Jones who would send your watch directly to Gucci for a check.

There is a shop on Battersea Park Road (No 302) called John Laucher. It is truly excellent. It's one of those shops that you wish there were more of, and that there were more people like him. He is straight up, honest, passionate about watches and I can't imagine how he makes any money since he charges next to nothing, not to mention if your watch is un-repairable he will tell you so, without charge. I wouldn't go anywhere else now and recommend him to everyone. Brilliant.

I take my Gucci watch to Asquith's jewellers on Northcote Road. Not sure how they compare price-wise to other places but I find it handy being so local.

I always go to the watchmaker in Debenhams at Clapham Junction. He comes highly recommended from the watch repairers at Debenhams in Wimbledon who was not prepared to repair my expensive Ebel watch. Many won't touch a sealed, expensive watch, but the watchmaker at Clapham Junction will. He is qualified & very experienced. Can't remember his name off hand.

I second John Laucher on Battersea Park Road. The guy that works seems to know loads about watches and is very reasonable priced. My husband and I have both taken our Tag watches there for different things. My sister took her Tag to him after a more well known Jewelery shop said they would have to send it back to Tag, costing lots and taking up to 6 weeks to fix. The lovely man fixed the watch while we waited ans it cost less that £5!! :D

Thanks so much for all your replies! I've been so busy I've not had time to sort out my watch but will def try one of your recommendations as I'm pretty sure it's just the battery.

Thank you NVN'ers. I went to John Laucher on Battersea Park Rd for a clock repair. He fixed it within a few days for a reasonable price. He definitely knows his stuff and is a rare gem - feels like a time warp when you go in the store which is a good thing in regards to customer service.
