Ecole des Benjamins

Postby MGMidget » Mon Jul 05, 2010 10:39 am

Does anyone have experience of Ecole des Benjamins, the bilingual French nursery for age 3 plus, and if so how have you found it? I'm considering sending my son there as I'd love him to have the chance to learn French at a young age but the recent OFSTED report was pretty bad. Just wondering how much notice I should take and whether any parents had a positive experience of it? Also wondered whether children are really immersed in French there and learn to speak it or whether English is the default language amongst the children.

I heard some discouraging things from a former teacher and from a parent who took their child out, but have no direct experience.

I had a show round of this nursery a few months ago and to be honest, wasn't that impressed. It just looked a bit run down, slightly disorganised, and although I was told it was all french speaking, I heard more English than French.
However, Grove Hall ( also bilingual and just across the road) had a completly different feel, even though it's owned by the same family I think. Nice bright rooms, and lots of french being spoken.
