Recommended removal firm?

Postby LizG » Fri Jun 04, 2010 12:02 pm

Can anyone recommend a local and reliable removal firm?

I'm moving in early July from SW11 to SW12 and would like to use a local firm but my husband will be at work and I will have our 3 month old son with me so I need people who will dismantle big furniture (ie cots, beds etc) and get on with it without too much supervision!

Thanks!
Liz

Found Burke & Wills pretty expensive. We used No Fuss Removals and that's exactly what they were. http://www.nofussremovals.com/ and very much more reasonable than the big firms.
Good luck!

Another one for Burke and Wills - we found they were on par with the other well known firms in the area but we went with them as they came recommended.

Like you, my husband was at work, and I let them get on with it - one guy came round the day before to start packing then the next day the rest arrived and got on with it in a short space of time (we completed at midday so had to be out sharpish) even though they had to dismantle our bed and garden furniture.

I could not rate them enough - they made our move so easy and stress-free that I actually enjoyed it!

We moved last month. We had a quote from Burke & Wills but decided to go with Capital Moves and Storage. There wasn't a great deal of difference in price but I liked the guy from Capital who came to do the valuation. He seemed professional and straightforward. Sadly, with hindsight, I definitely wouldn't recommend Capital. We were supposed to be out by 1pm and they were still packing at 3pm. The guys were friendly enough but spent a lot of time outside smoking, chatting on mobile phones and arguing. We've moved several times over the years and some of the boxes were the worst examples of packing we've ever seen. We had some breakages and, despite being assured that the move was fully insured, when we tried to claim we were given lots of excuses and have ended up seriously out of pocket. Overall, my advice would be to look elsewhere if you want a stressfree move.

Have you tried HARES of LOndon based in Wexford Rd Sw12?
0208 6734380 or 07855781465. Ask for Martin. They are wonderful!

I move in April and had quotes from Burke and Willis and Bushells. Have to say Burke and Willis were quite expensive so went with Bushells who were £1,000 cheaper. They were fantastic dismantled beds and put them back together, collected stuff from my storage company. I would highly recommend them to anyone. They are based on Garrett Lane in Earlsfield.

Hares of London. They are great. They have moved us a couple of times-both times have been completely stress free and the guys are lovely-nothing is too much trouble-a really good team. I would highly recommend them.

I used WAG Removals to move me and they were excellent and really new what they were doing. I was put on to them by CW plumbing services who are also recommended on this site, they did my plumbing. Also great. Wayne and his men at WAG were really helpful and freindly, and much cheaper than the others on this site. Definately Recommedable and , and love the name!
You can check out thier prices on the website.

I second the recommendation for Bushells (based in Earlsfield). Lovely family run business. Couldn't fault them and they have moved us 4 times in the last 2 years and we had our stuff in storage with them for a while.
