Loft bathroom - saniflo?

Postby 2009Kat » Fri Jul 12, 2013 3:11 pm

We are having our loft done and have been told we need a saniflo loo up there in the new bathroom. Does anyone have any info/advice to share on these? I am concerned about noise, clogging etc......

Hello

We have used a saniflo to put in a downstairs loo under our stairs. The unit has blocked once because DD flushed baby wipes (not many - it is quite sensitive) and it is relatively noisy on flushing and as the system clears a little while after use but the noise is not constant or too frequent.

We have one. Ours has never clogged. As long as you don't put anything other than toilet paper and human waste (as our plumber described it) in it, you should be fine. The noise isn't really that bad, we don't really notice it at all.

Our house had a loft bathroom with Saniflo when we bought it and it is horrible as it stinks. We never use it for anytihng other than "number 1's" but it absolutely stinks nevertheless. We had it replaced but it didn't help. Not sure if it is the way the pipes were done, or a problem with the saniflo itself but now the floors and carpets are down over the pipework it would be v expensive to change. But if there is any chance of putting proper pipes in, then I would definitely go for it.
