Moving house, what's the area like?

Postby Happyfaces » Fri Aug 09, 2013 9:06 pm

We are thinking of moving house. We have been looking at the Northcote road area but particularly Halston close (end of Northcote road opposite the library, black railings?) I live locally but I haven't heard much about this part of Northcote road. One of my main concerns is that it is a walk through alley way. I was just wondering if anyone regularly walks past or knows the ins and outs. I know in the past it has had a bad reputation but I would love to know how it is now?

Also I have read many threads about the school catchment areas around here and wonder if this road would be in the Honeywell catchment area? Its so close it seems crazy not to be.

Please help, I am loosing sleep thinking I might make a bad decision about moving and end up in a horrible place!!

Hi

I am not too sure about Halston Close itself but the area in general is great especially loads to do with little ones.

I think I am right in saying you wouldn't have got in to Honeywell this year based on first places however the list would move by September but not sure by how much. If you go to freemaptools and use the postcode distance finer the. You can work out distance to school as crow flies. Also wandsworth council will be able to tell you whether you would have got in this year or not.

Not that helpful really! But good luck with the move and hope things work out for you x

Hi, I currently live in Halaton Close - it's a great area and from what I can understand, in the catchment for Honeywell. Our neighbours are all so friendly (friendliest I have had since being in London since 2002!). I would certainly recommend it as an area to live. Shouting you have any other specific questions :-)

We've li edin Cobham Close, at the top of Halston close for 3 years. The neighbours are lovely, a number of them have been residents since the houses were built and others are professional couples with children. We were not in the catchment area for Honeywell this year, so worth checking as it was tiny. Let me know if you have questions!
