I'm having an argument with my better half

We're currently looking for a new car and they're trying to persuade me that a Skoda is an amazing car with a dodgy badge.

I am a *bit* of a snob and can't get past the fact that its a Skoda!

Any thoughts?

I agree with your husband. I am no petrolhead, but have worked on automotive accounts in advertising for many years, which guess does make me a brand/perception/reality expert

It's almost a VW (if you consider that a good car). Skoda are really good cars, you get a lot for your money and I personally think it's the smart choice. Realiable.

But yes, you'll have 'to live with' the skoda badge

I am with your better half. Mine better half is with you though. But then, I am really not a snob when it comes to cars. I'd rather get a big comfy Skoda then a small Audi. It looks like we are getting a small Audi though .

Owned by VW for many years. Very good reliability now way better than many better badged cars. Unless you're talking serious money (£80K+) they're all pretty much, much of muchness. I used to be a petrolhead but I'm really over the badge on the bonnet and more interested in what's under the bonnet will work

So I recently had the same conversations at home. Skoda is part of the same group as VW, Audi etc and they are undoubtedly very good cars. The build quality on some models isn't the same and personally not only did I find the VW a much better car/drive etc but (and my DH thought this was stupid) I would much rather have a VW parked outside my house! Maybe it's snobbery but if you're paying for a car surely that counts. You wouldn't buy a colour you don't like so why get a badge you're not happy with!
We just took delivery of a Passat estate and it is superb, love driving it and having just got back from holiday it can certainly cope with the amounts of clutter our 1 year old seems to require!
