Pregnancy Yoga Classes in Balham

Postby Wuzzaleena » Tue Jun 28, 2011 9:17 pm

Can anybody recommend a pregnancy yoga class in Balham? I have never tried yoga before but lots of people have said how great it is during pregnancy. I am 24 weeks so would like to start this asap.

Fenella's classes at Balham Park Surgery are great! I went there in my last trimester this winter.

I have contacted Fenella and the class is only running for another couple of weeks but will then start again in September due to lack of numbers. Apparently babies are a bit seasonal?
I can't wait until September so need a class to start soon.

I haven't been to these classes yet but I am going to give them a go soon having seen them advertised on here.

If you can get to the Northcote Road Nadia from Battersea Yoga's classes are great.

I also saw a poster for these classes yesterday although haven't been to them either but they take place in Balham Library.

Oh and if none of those work for you, I used to go to these classes on Thurleigh Road when I was pregnant with my first baby.

I did whYoga at Balham library and it was great. It is a drop in so you don't need to sign up which is handy if you need to miss a week. It is very popular and a great place to meet other local mums to be. I found the breathing really helped me during my labour.

Nell and Ash,

do you have classes running at the moment, and what stage of pregnancy are they suitable for, please?

Thanks,

If you don't mind tubing a few stops to clapham north I can thoroughly recommend Ingrid at the Shala http://www.theshala.co.uk/pregnancy.html
I went for both pregnancies (I don't do yoga normally) and found them incredibly relaxing. Stretches and breathing absolurtely brilliant and although a touch woo woo for my personal taste, Ingrid is really lovely and a great teacher

Hola! I'm Skip Oliver (Vicky), founder of whYoga. I have been running pregnancy yoga classes at Balham and Earlsfield Libraries for 14 years. I am a registered yoga teacher at a senior level for Yoga Allianec UK and US and run a registered yoga school, including the whYoga Pregnancy Teacher Training for yoga teachers. You would be in good hands with me. I am also a trained doula and I have had 3 self-managed home births (independent care). My children are now 18, 16 and 8. My classes are dynamic and focussed (you have to be strong to give birth) and they are a great place to meet other mums. I offer 5 and 10 week courses and drop-in. I also have a lovely assistant who has been with me for 12 years.
