The perfect jeans

Postby freshairmum » Mon Sep 09, 2013 11:22 am

I'm really sick of buying the 'wrong' jeans and would like to have something that I look even vaguely ok in. I have curvy hips and thighs but 'curvy' jeans just make me look fat(ter) so they are not the answer, plus I have a long body and short legs so I also find they're always far too long....it's a dilemma (I know there could be worse ones!).

Any recommendations please now the days of wearing shorts are numbered and jeans are coming out again??

Try Paige denim - pretty expensive but worth it in my view. I am also curvy and they fit really well with no gaping on the waist.

Maybe consider going to Ruby Blue in Sheen. I've been to their underwear shop next door and their fitting and service is amazing so I imagine it would be the same for their jeans shop and will definitely try it out when I next need a pair.

If you are looking for something reasonably priced I always find that the Levi's Curve -ID are a good fit for women with curvy hips. They have 3 different fits depending on how curvy you are, you can find all the details on their website.
As a general rule I would go for plain dark indigo jeans without any fading, 'sandblasting' as it's called will only make the thighs look bigger. Also look for denim fabrics that have at least 2% Lycra/Elastane as these hold their shape better. Finally if you have womanly thighs/hips choose straight cut jeans over skinnys.
Hope that helps. If you would like any more tips please feel free to email me on the address below:

You best bet is to book a personal shopping appointment and the person in the shop will help you find a perfect pair. Try Selfridges, Question Air or my personal favourite, Fenwicks in Bond St. The appointment is free and there is no pressure to buy. They also do free alterations and when my altered jeans arrived from Fenwicks through the post they also sent me loads of great beauty samples.

I think Uniqlo makes a great pair of jeans for the price. They sell simple straight leg jeans in a dark indigo that would work with pretty much anything.

I second the Paige suggestion - they are cut for curves & are the best jeans investment ever. They keep their shape & are so flattering. Also just bought H&M superskinnies - different end of the scale at £19.99 and they are fab. I'd avoid Citizens and Sevens as they stretch & go shapeless. Shocking for the price!! (Yes I am a jeans obsessive, have spent a long time researching this important subject!)

i like Next's relaxed skinny. normal skinny is just hell for me, my legs panic! and that's just trying them on. finding relaxed skinnies was so good, and they're really affordable. i agree with the non sandblasting comment. so not flattering if you don't have skinny skinny legs. and i agree on curvy fits. i lived in boys 501s for years, then i got an actual bum and tried curvy and oh my god. i suddenly became old round woman. awful. they just don't work.

jeans shopping is hell. you are in my thoughts :(

I recommend paying the money and going to somewhere like Trilogy kings Road, I have a curvy figure, I got some James Jeans about three years ago and they are fantastic. (they did hit the purse stings around £200 but worth every penny)

I am on a curvy side myself and finding the perfect jeans was always a tourble. Since Levi's Curve ID launched few yours back I became their guge fan. You always find a pair that fits. I think I own 5 now. Quality is great. The 1st dark blue pair haven't faded or lost shape at all after 3+ years.
Also, ages ago I had jeans made to measure at Selfridges. On expensive side but also an option.

Hello all, I too struggled to find the perfect jeans for my shape, hourglass size 18, so I created my own, BC Jeans They are very flattering www.beautyincurves.com they are made with a high density slight stretch denim and follow a secret-sculpt system to flatten your tummy, and smooth your hips, lift your bum. If you have shorter legs I would go for the Ankle Slim style. If you buy them online and don't like or they don't fit simply return them, I will pay for the return and give a full refund. I am based in Wimbledon so alternatively you could pop into my office/stock room to try them on, I don't have a physical retailer yet, I am only selling them online through my website.

Recently tried Salsa Jeans at John Lewis. They have a high waist and are so well fitted and have 30 inch leg length too.. Perfect
