Fire station open days?

Postby woowah » Wed Sep 25, 2013 8:58 pm

Does anyone happen to know when fire stations in SW London plan to have open days? I've been searching online and not managed to find anything.
My toddler is crazy about firemen and fire engines and has specifically asked if he can go to a fire station as a reward that he's working towards on his star chart.... And so I really need to find one happening soon!

Any advice greatly appreciated x

Hi there,
popping into your local one and having a quick chat in arranging your lil one to have a visit should be fine. A little boy from my old nursery went along with his mum one afternoon and got showed around and had a go in the fire truck and even got to wear the hat! took loads of pictures and had a really good time.

Give it a try x

We live very close to the Old Town one. My 2 year old LOVES it and every time we walk in front she gets super excited and start pointing to the fire engines. If one of the fireman is downstairs they usually ask if she like to have a go and let her sit on the fire engine etc. Once they also gave her activities books with info on what to do in case of a fire etc... I am sure that if you just go to one of the station and speak to them they will show you around!

My friend's nanny always used to just turn up with a couple of other nannies and their charges.

If the station was quiet they'd always get shown round.

It didn't hurt that the nanny was, ahem, extremely attractive.

Hi, I called the fire station in Old Town for my kids. They said they don't do anything organized unless you are with a school group. However, if you come on any given day, they are happy to show kids around but obviously if they get a call, that will be an abbreviated tour. Finally, I think they have a shift change (I seem to think it was 4 pm, but phone to double check) so that may not be a good time. I took mine with some of their friends and they had a brilliant tour.
