We shopped around for ages and, following a recommendation on NVN, we eventually had ours made by Tom at Evoke Furniture for a price that was comparable to the 'ready made' furniture we looked at. He is very helpful and I am sure he could make exactly what you want www.evokefurniture.co.uk

I second that on Tom, good quality workmanship. He's got some great stuff on his website.

We've got the Radius oak table from Habitat with two chairs and two benches. It's designed by a guest designer - it's chunky, solid oak with rounded edges and it has a lovely matt finish. Ours is 6 years old now and still looks like new.

The website pics really don't do it justice as it is much chunkier in real life.

Just before I met him, my now husband had bought himself an oak table and benches. It's chunky, solid and really quite handsome. I was very surprised to find out it came from Furniture Village, I think - might've been oak furniture. It was definitely a big chain, that I wouldn't usually consider buying from.

The table is now 9yrs old, still looking beautiful, and wearing very well (although admittedly, we use a table cloth when the children are eating).
