Support group for relatives of cancer sufferers?

Postby lalectrice » Sat Nov 09, 2013 9:31 am

Does anyone know of an organisation or counsellor that offers a support group for the relatives of people with cancer or of people with incurable illness? Thanks.

Macmillan if it's cancer. Also wherever the relative is being treated they will have a specific support service or provide information.

Paul's cancer Support centre on York rd Battersea, are fantastic! They offer support for patients relatives carers and anyone affected by cancer.

I can personally recommend them, and they are our local cancer support centre although I know that people come from all over London to attend, as there are so few centres in London.

Hi All,
We are Flavin's Tea Room at 204 Trinity Rd SW17 and are considering whether to have a morning Or afternoon session each week for those who are or have been affected by cancer( like myself) to pop in and have a chat with others, who are in a similar situation, over a cuppa in a relaxed Intimate environment and gain support. please let us know if this is something you would be Interested in.

Thanks, everyone - that's really helpful. I will definitely look at Paul's support service and, Mir, I would be very interested in the type of sessions you are thinking about.

I should add I've had cancer a couple of times but I'm still here. If anyone has any questions or want some advice, fire away. Pauls is a very good place. Best wishes.

I used to work for the amazing Maggies Cancer Caring Centres. They have a centre at Charing Cross Hospital, on the Fulham Palace Road and offer masses of support for those with, or caring for, living with, or relatives of those living with Cancer. The Centre is staffed by Cancer Support Specialists and they offer individual advice and support as well as many group sessions. I know I am biased as I used to work there but I cannot tell you how amazing the centre is. Please do pop by, or visit their website for more information. I really hope they will be able to help you.
