**Phuket - where to stay? Please help!!**

Postby cosmopolitanmum » Fri Nov 15, 2013 1:53 pm

Hello
We are going to Phuket in Feb for about 9 nights with all the grandparents. Any recommendations on where to stay? We wanted somewhere that is close to a town so we can venture out (seems pointless to fly 12 hours and then just stay in the resort) We looked at Le Meridien nr Patong but not excellent reviews. We are also looking at options in Karon where we can walk to shops/ restaurants in Karon and take cab to Patong if needed. I know Patong can be seedy but we have been before (without kids) and stick to the nice parts.
Any advice would be really appreciated.

Dusit Hotel - Phuket Laguna 5 stars Thai brand with kids club.
Twin palm hotel (Surin Beach) -got swim down from balcony
Banyan tree - where the movie Bridget Jones filmed
Sri Panwa -the most exclusive hotel in Phuket where Gordon Ramsay is a usual visit.
I also want to suggest you to stay away from Patong as its not a nice part of Phuket.

Also, Centara hotel is a good Thai 4/5 stars hotel with water park.

Hope this help

We love Indigo Pearl but its well out of town, there are local bars/restaurants on the beach front though.

We stayed at Le Meridien in March 2010. We had a fantastic stay but it was pre-children :D

What we liked best about it was that it has it's own private beach and a huge swimming pool. We were glad we never had to go to the overcrowded beach in Patong.

The main downside is that you need to catch a taxi to either Patong on Karon. MUCH too far to walk!

I can't tell you what kid's facilities were like as that was not relevant to us at the time.

Thanks all for your replies. We have actually decided on moevepick residences in karon beach (after a LOT of research!) so hope it turns out well.
