Little Kickers or Rugerbeez..

Postby schoolssoconfusing » Mon Nov 25, 2013 6:06 pm

Does anybody have any experience of both and thoughts on them. We are looking at it for a two year old boy. We know all about Playball but are looking for another physical activity that also has educational basis eg. reinforcing colours etc…

Also if you had the choice of one of these or Gymboree what would you recommend. I have heard great things about Little Gym but its just that little bit too far…

Many thanks for any advice...

Don't have experience of both, but used to be a primary school teacher so some thoughts:
My little boy does Little Kickers over Ruggerbeez because my husband did football 1st & then rugby when older (makes my Welsh bones shudder - rugby all the way!!!!) so he 'believes' our son should do the same...... I have friends whose chn do RBs & it sounds very similar to LK in terms of the format so I don't think there's much in it.
I have heard great things about playball, sadly we couldn't afford to do it (got twins & between football, ballet, gymboree, artful toddler, nursery etc etc all gets a bit ridiculous!) as they don't do a twins discount. But i know plenty of people whose chn do it & they all rave about it.
We did gymboree between the ages of 1-2.5 & mine loved it, also great to have an indoor activity too. My 2 still ask about it now a year on!
Whatever you decide, I htink we are lucky enough to have a wide range of brilliant activities in the local area.

We've tried both and I definitely prefer little kickers, especially for a 2yr old. I'm a big rugby fan, and used to play myself, so was quite keen to get my son into rugby but the stuff they were trying to do with the 2yr olds was way too advanced and my son ended up confused and bored and a bit scared! He's been going regularly to little kickers though since about 20mths (he's 4 now) and loves it. They do a lot of colours & counting and build up the skills nice and slowly. Some coaches are obviously better than others but I would highly recommend you give little kickers a try.

I agree with previous poster, definitely little kickers over Ruggerbeez. I was super keen for my first to do rugby from the start but we went to a few sessions after he turned two but it was a nightmare, far to complex for one so young. Little kickers has been fantastic, my son has been doing it for 1.5 years now and can't wait for it. I'm just about to start my 18 month old at little kicks.

They both did tumble tots from 12 months and they both loved it but first stopped when went to nursery.

My son has done both and I think LK wins for a 2 year old - especially at this time of year because it is inside whereas RB is out on the Common come rain or shine. My son is 3.5 now and is a big RB fan.
