Hello, I used James at Fittolast. He is based in Clapham North. They have classes during the week and James compiles a meal plan for you. No faddy foods normal every items with portion recommendation depending on your aim so it is easy to share meals with the family rather than having one operate meal for yourself. James monitors your progress periodically to keep you motivated and to ensure you are achieving your objective. They focus on weights, body weights, boxing and interval training so not only do you lose weight, you improve your fitness and your core strength. James also does tutorials about health, fitness and nutrition and he is always there for extra advice/support if you require. It does require commitment and the results are amazing. His number is 07834835940

HI there
I'm going to drop you a note but just to say I'd strongly recommend buying the Lean for Life book from Louise Parker. I have been following her principles with great success. The chapter on yo yo dieting is fascinating as is the information on the organically obese!

ErinIsle I really like the sound of Anna's approach and have looked at her website - good recommendation, thank you! Only thing is, I have found nothing on the website about the cost of her programme - could you give me a ballpark idea of it, please? Thanks

I'm sorry to hear you are struggling to lose weight and it certainly sounds very disheartening!

I am a registered dietitian and nutritionist, specializing in maternal and childhood nutrition and I hope that I can help! Dietitians are the only nutritional professionals trained to ensure high quality, evidence based advice and ethical practice. I have years of experience in weight loss, and it is certainly true that some people find it easier than others! I therefore will help you find a strategy that suits you, as weight loss is certainly not a 'one size fits all' approach.

For more Information, please look at my website or call/ email for a no obligation discussion.

I know what I need to do,but for some reason tbis time around ( after second child) I can't help myself.
I find it extremely hard to make the right choices and I'm a firm believer that it's all in the food.
Exercise is great for general health and Fitness but when it comes down to it, it what's you eat.
It's so dull to feel restricted and have a list of what you should eat.

Any tips ?
Hi Petal,
I find that I need accountability. That's why Weight Watchers worked for me in the past (way in the past in my 20s when my body still worked correctly before kids!) and why Anna's approach works for me even more as you fill in a self-evaluation sheet weekly (setting personal weekly goals, celebrating success (not just weight loss), that kind of thing) and even more than that, you get on a conference call and get both inspired by others in the program as well as getting either a kick up the backside to get real with yourself or being firmly told to be kinder to yourself and stop trying to do everything at once.

Also - change one thing at a time (eg week 1, healthy breakfast or protein with every meal or something) rather than attempt to overhaul your whole life and fail and give up by Thursday.

Hope that helps a little!

Hi Orchard - it isn't super cheap (although she has an alternative program without the high-end coaching that is more in line with the cost of something like the Body Coach/Joe Wicks/weekly slimming meetings) because it comes with personalised coaching. The program is basically like employing a nutrition/life-coach. It's definitely an investment in yourself and you pay for her expertise as a professional who has trained in the subject. PM me if you need to know more.

If you're willing to spend £30 a day Fresh Fitness Food is an excellent service. Each day they deliver all your meals for the day and that's all you need to eat - just heat them up in the microwave.

I have been doing them 3 weeks and have lost 12lb already. I was 10st 4 to start and exercise 3/4 times a week but just couldn't shift the last baby weight.

Highly recommend!

I lost 3 stone last year using the 5:2 diet.

As some background I weighted 84ish KG at my peak, about 82 when I started the diet in May and by Christmas I was down to to 62.

I didn't believe it would work, or be easy. I was wrong on both counts.

Below is an extract I sent a friend who had asked me about it, (and who has now also done it successfully)

---

Hi

As promised here is the diet info:

This partly where the diet came from. Worth a watch, as it’s only and hour and covers some of the potential other health benefits of fasting.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01lxyzc

Then I read this.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Feast-Weight-B ... 1409146693

There are other books on it, and that may not be the best, but it was the one the friend who did the diet and I took inspiration from read. It’s pretty quick easy read.

As for the diet itself, if you want to try it, am happy to help.

They key really is finding what works for you. I started off eating about 100 calories for lunch and about 450 for dinner. Now I skip lunch as it does’t bother me and just have an nice meal. But some of the people at work find 3x 200 calorie small meals are better. Others have a big lunch or breakfast and a small dinner.

I also find that coffee helps, so I have 3 macchiato’s during the day. (About 8 calories a cup) and a fair bit of water. I drink sparkling as it feels like you’re having something more substantial.

I’ve found some really great recipes, that I’ll share with you . I’ve modified them as I’ve gone along (e.g. some are only 200 calories, and so I’ve doubled them, or added more veg) . I both enjoy the cooking and the process (you need a decent scale, as in the beginning you need to weigh things quite specifically till you know the recipe well.). So I land up focussing on cooking a nice meal, which I then enjoy and don’t go to bed hungry.

Generally with a bit of determination you can do a fast day. I found the first day really tough. The first couple of weeks challenging but doable. Now I barely notice a fast day. I’m a bit more tired than normal between about 4 & 7pm, but beyond that find. And I feel I have more energy on the rest of the weeks.

I’ve done more of a 4:3 as I wanted to get to my target weight quicker (as I was competing with a friend as a motivation), but there is no need to do this. 5:2 is just fine.

Also being very data driven, I’ve got my own spreadsheet that I track a lot of trends (e.g. I take a trimmean of my weight over 7 days and look at that not the individual days). If you want, am more than happy to share that too.

I just came back from a 5 day detox at Amchara in Somerset, I am 7lb lighter and most importantly I now have a really healthy eating plan to follow that will shift some more pounds until I reach my target which is also 2 stone.
They teach you how balance your sugar levels which stops the cravings and hunger, my stomach has shrunk in one week so I don't want to eat so much any more.
I had colonic irrigation for the first time ever!
It has been the perfect springboard to get me in good habits and I feel glowing and full of vitality!
They teach you all about juicing which I am going to incorporate into my diet, I have now found a great co in UK to deliver the juices as I don't really have the time to do this at the moment.

I am a naturopath and preach detoxing & cleansing so I am now finally practicing what I preach :D

I am now going to send all my clients to them!

If you are interested in knowing more - just let me know and if you book through me I can get you a free treatment!

Hi Lunalunita,

I appreciate that this may sound a bit leftfield but have you considered either hypnotherapy or counselling?

There are so many diets out there right now. So many ways to basically feel rubbish about yourself until you 'buy in' to a product or lifestyle....and then if it fails a million ways to feel awful about yourself.

I am a hypnotherapist (although there are plenty of us about depending upon where you are based) and when I work with clients who are having problems with losing weight I regularly find that there is so much more going on.
Low self-esteem and opinion, the feeling of failing, poor image of self and the loss of any defined plan to lose weight and maintain the new weight.
It becomes such a scatter-bombed effort.

I work to improve self-image, personal resources and the drive to continue with whichever plan you choose to follow. I can also put clients in contact with dieticians, PTs and complementary therapists when they are ready to persue that path with confidence and no guilt.

There is a terrible loop with weight loss and weight gain which keeps an entire diet industry wonderfully wealthy and busy. Ensuring that you are mentally and emotionally at the best place you can be not only helps you to navigate this but also really helps to actually make better choices and thus the drive to lose weight.

I do hope that that makes sense! :)

If you want to chat further just PM me. If you'd like to book in you can do so by contacting Neal's Yard Therapy Rooms on Northcote Road on Tel: 020 7223 7141.
