Postby sw12-mum » Thu Jan 31, 2019 4:50 pm

Hi there, any recommendation for a counsellor / therapist specialised in postnatal depression or anxiety? Ideally around Balham.
Thanks

I am a qualified and experienced post natal counsellor and a registered member of the BACP.

I’m based in SW11 but experience has taught me conventional counselling doesn’t always work with new mums so I’m happy to do home visits or ‘walk and talk’ on local commons to fit around babies needs.

PM me if you would like to discuss further.

Hi SW12 mum ,

I saw your post  and I wondered if you have considered hypnotherapy?

My name is Tansy and I'm a hypnotherapist based in Balham (SW12 too ) 😁 . I am experienced in working with all forms of anxiety  and have helped many achieve rapid relief from their symptoms and helped them to identify and successfully treat underlying causes of their anxiety.

I create a bespoke plan for each client which can include the use of CBT and EFT which can be particularly useful in overcoming trauma/ reprogramming anxious thoughts and/or behaviours.

I would be very happy to have a chat and do a free 20 minute consultation over the phone to see if it is something you would like to try. I practice from home and have a lovely relaxing environment.

Check out my website for more details and what my clients say

In the meantime you might like to try my free  general recordings on youtube to help you get some immediate relief  💚

Very Best Wishes

Hi sw12-mum
You don't necessarily need someone describing themsleves as "a specialist" in this area to help you, you more likely just need a good therapist.  There are a lot of options in our area of London.
If you look for someone who is registered or accredited to BACP or UKCP they should be properly trained, then check what they say re their experience.
I would make a shortlist from research here or elsewhere and give each (maybe 3?) a call to discuss how they could help, how they might work with what is going on for you.  You'll probably get a sense of who might be best for you, follow your instinct.
Good luck,
David

On the nhs , ask your Gp to refer you to the Perinatal mental health psychotherapy team at Chelsea Westminster .you don’t have to traipse all the way to Chelsea. They have a satellite clinic based in a Gp surgery in battersea where they can see you ,or they can visit you at home .
Private- The Perinatal group practice is excellent!
Good luck !
