iCandy peach or Mima Kobi???? Post Reply

Hi

I am trying to buy a travel system that is future proof and hence will convert to a double.

I have seen the bugaboo donkey but eliminated it on the grounds it's extremely wide in double mode and wider than normal in single mode. The two best options seem to be the iCandy peach or the new Mima Kobi, that is currently only available in John Lewis. Has anyone got a Mima Kobi? What are the niggles etc? Does anyone know how it compares to the iCandy peach?

I have the icandy peach and looooove it - but am only using it in single occupier mode at the moment. It's great to use though, brilliantly easy to steer, puncture proof, good size basket. Am a very happy icandy owner

Thanks - re the Baby Jogger, I saw it in store but it looked a bit rickety and not as well made as the others. Perhaps it's just coincidence and it had been handled badly by lots of customers! It also seemed longer than the others so perhaps harder to steer? And is anyone using it just in single mode?

I've had our City Select for eight or nine months now, and I wouldn't say it's rickety. I find it handles well and not hard to steer. It's not the smallest double buggy out there, though. I've only done direct side-by-side comparisons with the P&T (which my husband wanted us to have and I was dead set against). It's a few inches longer, but not by much.

What I really like about it is the versatility of the seat configurations. A woman with an iCandy (I'm not sure if she had Pear or Peach Blossom) stopped me to ask about it. She was saying that her pushchair seats don't do the same as mine and wished it did. I usually have toddler at front, facing out, and the baby facing me. I also love that it has a very large shopping basket.

However, I've not used it with a carrycot. To do that, the toddler seat has to be rear-facing, and I didn't think my son would be too happy with that arrangement. We have the Cabriofix carseat, so used that instead.

Also, I've not yet figured out how to make the seats recline more than a bit when in doubles mode. That's not proved an issue for us, but thought I'd warn you.

I do use it quite a lot in singles mode, too, when I've only got one of the boys. It's very like an 'ordinary' pushchair. We used to have a Quinny Buzz and it's pretty similar, although I think a smidgen narrower.

I'm a HUGE icandy fan. They look great, they are narrow and really really easy to steer and move around. Can't fault mine!

I have an icandy peach blossom and love it. I used it as a double when my second child was born as my oldest was 19 months old and still needed to be in a buggy. She is now fulltime on the buggy board or on the scooter so i used it as a single.

It is very light (for a double buggy!) and steady, narrow enough for buses or trains, and more importantly very comfy. Also we found hat he top seat is a bit bigger than the phil and teds one so it works better for us as our older child is very tall.

I have now my second child in the mc laren so i m considering selling my icandy, i have all the accessories. PM if you are interested, it is in pristine condition and the RRP is very expensive when you buy it as double straight away.

Good luck for the choice, it is a difficult one.

Thanks v much for all the help. I've ended up ordering an iCandy peach - for what it's worth, I read on the internet that a new peach blossom converter kit is due out at the end of 2011 and apparently has loads of improvements on the existing one. Not even the staff in John Lewis seemed to be aware of the new version coming out!

I just joined NappyValleyNet!
Just to say I bought the new mima Kobi in John Lewis and I am very happy with it!!
For the moment I use it only as a single pushchair but we plan to have another baby so we will just buy the second seat.
Even if it is quite an expensive pushchair we are really loving it, we can go everywhere even in small shops, baby is very comfy and this pushchair is so stylish!
